Muslims on the Temple Mount beat a French Christian tourist for waving an Israeli flag on the site.

A Muslim mob assaulted a French tourist, reportedly a Christian, as he visited the Temple Mount on Tuesday morning.

The tourist was quickly spirited away by Israeli police after several Muslims claimed that he was waving an Israeli flag, which supposedly ignited the mayhem.

He was reportedly wounded when the attackers hit him in the head with a rock.

Police announced that the tourist was being detained for not abiding by the site rules. It is prohibited to fly an Israeli flag on the Temple Mount, which is under the authority of the Jordanian Waqf (Muslim trust). Three of the assailants were arrested as well.

The Waqf also prohibits Jews from praying on the Temple Mount, which is the holiest site in Judaism.

The Islamic State (ISIS) flag has been seen on the site, although any affiliation with the terrorist organization is illegal in Israel.
