URGENT: HELP BUILD BOMB SHELTERS IN SOUTHERN ISRAEL

labThree Israelis Killed in Rocket Attacks; Infants Injured

As Israel begins Operation Pillar of Defense to counter the continuous rocket fire that has been indiscriminately targeting Israeli civilians, three Israelis were killed and six more were wounded when a Hamas rocket hit an apartment building in Kiryat Malachi Thursday morning. Arutz Sheva reported that the three killed included a married couple in their thirties and an individual in his twenties. The married woman was pregnant. Among the six injured, two of them were infants. An additional four-year-old boy in Kiryat Malachi was also seriously hurt. Six more were treated for shock.

According to the Jerusalem Post, "Blood stains could be seen up and down the stairwell of the Kiryat Malachi building where three Israelis were killed by a Gaza rocket. In the apartments on the top two floors, the damage and disarray appeared almost as if a tornado had crashed into the building and scattered everything asunder."

Air Raid Sirens in Tel Aviv; Rocket Lands in Area

For the first time in over 20 years, since the Gulf War ended, bomb sirens went off in Tel Aviv. This occurred just an hour after a rocket exploded in Rishon LeTzion. Furthermore, since Tel Aviv is Israel's economic capital, the site of most foreign embassies, and is very close to where Israel's international airport is located, any attack upon Tel Aviv compels the Israeli leadership to take stronger actions against the Palestinian leadership in Gaza.

Israelis Help Hurricane Sandy Victims

Though official Israeli offers of help to Hurricane Sandy victims have thus far been politely declined by the states most affected by the October 29, 2012 storm, various Israeli non-governmental agencies (NGOs) are working to bring relief to victims and supplies to emergency workers in New York and New Jersey.

Shahar Zahavi, CEO of IsraAID: The Israel Forum for International Humanitarian Aid (http://israaid.co.il), left Israel on November 9 with a delegation of about a dozen trained rescue volunteers.
