Will Israel's Petition to Release Pollard Convince
Obama?
Members of Knesset Nachman Shai and Ayelet Shaked, who head the caucus to free
Jonathan Pollard, presented President Shimon Peres this morning with a petition
for his release, signed by 106 lawmakers. The petition was signed as a
cooperative effort between coalition partners and opposition, Jews and Arabs,
calling for the release of Jonathan Pollard from prison in the US.
Israel's Channel 10 TV station first reported Friday that Secretary of State
John Kerry offered to free Pollard as part of an exchange for the release of a
fourth group of Palestinian terrorists from Israeli jails as peace talks resume
this week.

3000 Israeli Soldiers Will be Warmer this
Winter!
United with Israel, with the help of friends and supporters around the world,
has provided over 3000 'warm winter' care packages to IDF soldiers at numerous
bases, from Israel's northern borders with Syria and Lebanon, down through the
Jordan Valley to the southern Negev region.
Earlier this season, Israel experienced the storm of a century, and this winter
is turning out to be unusually cold. The gift packages, which include fleece
jackets, hats, gloves and neck warmers, could not have come at a better time.
Indeed, many soldiers have expressed their profound gratitude not only for
these much-needed gifts, but also for the warm wishes and expressions of
support they have received from millions of people worldwide who appreciate
their bravery in protecting the people of Israel.

Kerry Planning to Intensify Peace Talks
US Secretary of State John Kerry, although reportedly planning to
intensify peace talks, does not expect to achieve a "big
breakthrough" during his trip to the region this week, a senior State
Department official said.
Kerry is "starting the new year with a special effort to try to
move the Israeli-Palestinian negotiations forward," the Washington-based
official said. Israeli and Palestinian politicians on Tuesday staked out
"red lines" they claimed their leaders would never cross.

Israelis React in Pain Over Release of Terrorists
The majority of Israelis have reacted in pain over the release late Monday
night of 26 Palestinian prisoners - all terrorists with blood on their hands.
According to recent polls, 85 percent of Israelis are opposed to releasing
terrorists. The prisoner release - the third out of four, totaling 24 convicted
terrorists - was carried out as a so-called confidence-building gesture imposed
by the U.S., the leading broker in the current round of Israeli-Palestinian
peace negotiations.

Torah: Plant Seeds and Ensure Jewish Continuity!
This week's Torah portion is "Bo" (Exodus 10:1 - 13:16) and at its
climax we have the tenth and final plague that God cast upon Egypt: the death
of the firstborn. The Jewish people were now all but free. The first annual
Passover Seder takes place.
The Exodus will forever be the primary national historical theme of the Jewish
people. Indeed, the Exodus from Egypt is not only a historical event, but a
daily one, as well.
