Israel Apartheid Week: Teaching Hate on College Campuses
2012 marks the 8th annual “Israel Apartheid Week,” which takes place in February and March on dozens of college campuses and in cities around the world.
The event, which will be held in the United States between February 27 and March 3, is a well-organized political assault designed to delegitimize, demonize, and cause the collapse of Israel by falsely portraying it as an apartheid state and applying double standards of moral conduct.

PURIM: Turning Sadness into Joy!
The festive holiday of Purim commemorates Israel’s salvation from extermination by the mighty Persian Empire, some 2500 years ago. Jews in Israel and all over the world celebrate Purim on the 14th day of Adar (this year March 8th) as a time of “Light, Gladness, Joy and Honor for the Jewish people” (Esther 8:16).
Purim is a classic story of deep-rooted anti-semitism, pitting a powerful ruler (King Ahasuerus) and his vicious, arrogant advisor (Haman) against the Nation of Israel. Plans were drawn up for the “final solution” – wiping the Jews off the face of the earth. The word ”Purim” means lottery – referring to the method used to determine the fateful day set aside for the annihilation of the Jews.

Stop the Neo-Nazi Movement in Hungary!
Dozens of people marching on the streets with flags in their hands, badges on their chest. When they reach their destination a strange looking person steps on the podium and starts to speak. His speech is saturated with hate. He demands a “Jew-free” country; he blames the Roma people for the problems of our society. And this is not 1944 – this is 2012, Hungary.
The rising social tensions evoked the ghosts of the past. More and more people believe we shall revive the Nazi ideas… What is more, the Hungarian far-right movement and its fellow organizations consider themselves as the spiritual heirs of the National Socialist Party.

Living Torah: Adar
The joyous month of Adar is now upon us! Adar is the most joyous of months, as the Talmud teaches: "When the month of Adar enters we increase our joy." It is interesting to note that a Jewish leap year is a year in which there are two Adars! That's right! While on the secular calendar, a leap year means the addition of an extra day at the end of February (Feb. 29th - my birthday!), a Jewish leap year means the addition of an extra month!.
The primary reason for the Adar joy is because Adar is the month in which Purim is celebrated. While we'll have lots to share with you on Purim in upcoming United with Israel posts, Purim is the holiday that commemorates the salvation of the Jewish People from the evil Haman's attempt to exterminate them.
