United with Israel Installs Bomb Shelters Near Ashkelon
(ASHKELON, Israel) Although this may be a rather “unusual” Passover gift, thanks to the strong support of United with Israel’s world community, two bomb shelters were installed in Israeli towns on the outskirts of Ashkelon. Brachia and Hodaya are neighboring moshavim (villages) just a few kilometers from the heart of Ashkelon, a coastal city that has been hit with numerous rocket attacks from Gaza in recent days.

Unfortunately, for impoverished families in Israel, Passover can be a
time of stress, hunger and despair. When there's no food on the holiday
table, Passover is no longer a time of freedom. Tragically, it can be
transformed into another experience of bondage, depression and despair.

While we all love and enjoy Passover, Jewish tradition says something surprising about the future of this beloved holiday. According to one opinion in the Talmud, at the end of times, we are not even going to talk about the Exodus from Egypt anymore because those miracles will be entirely overshadowed by what God has in store for us. Blood, frogs, lice… that’s nothing compared to what the Almighty has planned for the future redemption of the Jewish people.

Passover begins on the 15th day of the Hebrew month of Nissan. There is hardly a Jewish home anywhere in the world that does not conduct some kind of a “Seder” in honor of the holiday.
The table is set with the finest tableware and decoration in honor of the event and the festive meal should be among the most elaborate of the year. We are taught that it is a night when the holiness of the original Exodus – when God Himself took the Jewish people out of Egypt – again descends to our world to greet us and to sanctify us, making the Seder night one of the holiest nights of the year. |
