The seeds of a Turkish spring are presently being planted within Turkey. What started out as a movement to save one of the last green spaces in Istanbul from being converted into a shopping mall has emerged into a mass protest movement calling upon Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to resign.

Many Turks claim he has brutally suppressed dissent and attempted to make Turkish society more Islamist in nature. If Erdogan were to resign and the secular opposition were to gain power, it may have positive implications for Turkish-Israeli relations.

IsraAID Brings Relief to Victims of Oklahoma Tornado

United With Israel recently interviewed Galit Cohen. Galit Cohen is a staff member of IsraAID, an Israeli humanitarian organization, that is presently working on the ground in Moore, Oklahoma, helping American tornado victims by providing disaster relief and counseling.

Although IsraAID was also active in the Oklahoman towns of Bethel and Little X, IsraAID decided to focus on Moore because it was hit the worst. IsraAID is the only international humanitarian organization providing disaster relief assistance to Oklahoma at this time.

American and European Lawmakers Call for a United Jerusalem

American and European lawmakers met with Israeli Knesset members in a rare joint meeting in order to express their support for a united Jerusalem in honor of the day that Jerusalem Day is commemorated in the EU Parliament.

Rep. Doug Lamborn, a Republican from Colorado who co-chairs the Congressional Israel Allies Caucus, stated that for “historical, biblical and moral reasons; we are committed to the unity of Jerusalem as Israel’s undivided capital.
