Israel is always in desperate need of rain.  And it looks like a rainy Winter season may be in store for the country.  It began to rain in the south over the weekend and spread as far north as the Golan where there were actual thunderstorms.

The rain is expected to continue throughout this week.  On the one hand the rain is certainly a blessing and the entire country looks forward to a Winter full of rain.

On the other hand, the country is currently celebrating the holiday of Sukkot in which people live outdoors in sukkot, booths and the rain makes it difficult to fulfill the traditions of the holiday.

Jews throughout the world will say special prayers for rain towards the end of this week’s festivities.  Let’s hope that the rain fall we are beginning to see this week bodes well for a Winter of rain leading to a full Kineret and a year of fields full of produce.
