An Arab terrorist stabbed two Jews at the Rami Levy Supermarket in Mishor Adumim, a short drive outside of Jerusalem.

On Wednesday afternoon, an Arab terrorist attempted to murder two Israeli shoppers by stabbing them at the checkout counter. A security guard responded, shooting the terrorist in the leg and capturing him. The victims, two Israeli men in their fifties, were treated for moderate injuries by emergency medical teams before being taken to Hadassah Hospital.

The knife attack occurred around 4:15 pm in Mishor Adumim, an industrial and shopping area outside of the Jewish city of Maale Adumim, close to Jerusalem, which is open to both Arab and Israeli shoppers. Mayor Benny Kashriel of Maale Adumim acknowledged that security concerns would likely result in Israeli shoppers wanting Palestinians banned from the shopping area, but noted that Palestinian workers should be permitted to retain jobs regardless.

Supermarket Attack: ‘My Kids Stand in that Check Out Line’

Let’s switch gears for a minute. I’ve given you the facts of what happened in the Rami Levy terror attack today, but this one hits close to home for this writer.

That’s the supermarket where my 65-year-old mother-in-law shops every week. My wife takes our kids there (ages 2, 4, 6 and 7) and we shop side-by-side with Palestinians. In fact, one of the people we love to see at the Rami Levy is a kind Palestinian man from Ramallah who works behind the cheese counter. We all know each other by name, have nice conversations whenever we see each other and he always wants to give the kids slices of cheese to try.

Our supermarket has always felt like a safe place. It has always been a place where both Palestinians and Israelis interact with each other, go about daily life and generally defy stereotypical portrayals of separation and fear.

Now that has changed.

I don’t know what the future will be for Palestinians at the Rami Levy. We will continue to shop there, while keeping a cautious eye out for trouble. (I’ll need to pick up some pepper spray for both Grandma and Mommy.)

I do know this: Don’t tell me that “we had it coming.”

Don’t try to find reasons for the attack. Don’t ask apologetic or anti-Semitic analysts what makes a Palestinian man walk into a supermarket with a knife, looking for some Jews to kill.

Writer David Mamet said it best in his book The Wicked Son: Anti-Semitism, Self-Hatred and the Jews:

“The everyday announcements of the so-called ‘cycle of violence’ in Israel are race slander … a reminder of the availability of the Jews as an object of disgust … I would suggest that you consider the Shoah (Holocaust), the rape victim, the school children killed at Columbine. Is it reasonable to ask of the victims of Columbine, ‘What did they and their parents do to bring it about?’

Then you may not ask it of the Israeli bombing victims and of their race and nation.”

This is terrorism. It’s the same terrorism that drives the Islamic State (ISIS) to decapitate anyone who opposes them. It’s the same terrorism present in Iran’s calls for the destruction of Israel. Thise evil stems from the root of Islamic Terror, and it must be stopped.

Sign the Petition to Stop Funding the Palestinian Authority

The Palestinian Authority openly supports and encourages terror attacks against the citizens of Israel. If there was any doubt before, it has been completely eliminated this past month, as we have witnessed the most horrific terror attacks against Israelis with full support from the PA.

It is an outrage the the United States continues to fund the PA. They are funding terror – plain and simple. Join us in demanding that the US stops funding Palestinian terror.
