Hamas opposes a UN plan to rebuild Gaza, as the UN plan ensures that Hamas cannot use the building materials for terror purposes. How ungrateful can you be?

Hamas, the terror group that rules the Gaza Strip, has voiced opposition to a rehabilitation plan presented by the United Nations for the Gaza Strip, AP reports.

Gaza was damaged during the battles which ensued during Operation Protective Edge, after raining rockets and destruction on Israel during the summer.

Speaking on Sunday, Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri called the UN mechanism to rebuild Gaza “unacceptable” and “inefficient.” Despite Hamas’s opposition to the system, Abu Zuhri gave no indication if Hamas will disrupt the shipments.

The UN announced its plan to rehabilitate Gaza in September. It created a system to bring construction materials into Gaza while sidelining Hamas, this ensuring that the materials are used for civilian reconstruction, and not the rehabilitation of their network of terror tunnels that were destroyed by the IDF during the summer operation.

Minister of Defense Moshe Ya’alon recently expressed concern regarding Hamas’ rearming and renewed digging of their terror tunnels in order to infiltrate into Israel and to murder and kidnap civilians. Ya’alon warned UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon that Israel will not provide building supplies intended for rehabilitating the Strip if Hamas will use them for terror tunnels.

“We want the residents of Gaza to live in dignity and prosperity, rebuild their homes and return to normal life. But we are very worried. Just yesterday Hamas representatives said they intend to reconstruct the attack tunnels, instead of rebuilding the homes of Gaza’s residents,” Ya’alon told Ban. “If this is the case, we will not be able to allow the entrance of construction materials into Gaza. We will not allow Hamas to rearm itself.”
