Former US President Bill Clinton was speaking Friday in New Jersey at a campaign event for his wife Hillary, the Democratic candidate in the 2016 presidential race.

Defending his Middle East foreign policy during his presidential term as well as that of his wife, the former American leader said that he “killed” himself trying to get the Palestinians a state during peace negotiations with Israel.

He also condemned Hamas’s use of human shields – sacrificing innocent Palestinian lives – while fighting Israel.
