Winton single-handedly organized the rescue of 669 children from Czechoslovakia on the eve of the World War II, in an operation known as the Czech Kindertransport.

PM Netanyahu said the Jewish State owes Winton an eternal debt for “saving the defenseless, and for exceptional moral leadership that is an example for all humanity.”
