A shocking episode of the Project Olive Branch podcast, hosted by Toronto Police Officers Haroon Siddiqui and Farhan Ali, has sparked outrage for its inflammatory rhetoric and blatant disregard for the Jewish community’s security.
Instead of acknowledging the rising antisemitic hate in Toronto, the officers defended extremist narratives and downplayed the violent demonstrations terrorizing Jewish residents.

Most disturbingly, Officer Siddiqui suggested that the October 7 Hamas attack—which resulted in the brutal massacre of over 1,200 people—has led to a wave of conversions to Islam.
The implication is chilling: Are we to believe that an act of terror was somehow an inspiring event? Meanwhile, Officer Ali dismissed valid concerns about pro-Palestinian rallies that glorify Hamas, falsely labeling criticism as “discrimination.”
The facts paint a different picture. Toronto has seen a staggering 47% rise in hate crimes, with Jews being the most targeted group. Yet, instead of confronting this reality, these officers used their platform to whitewash extremism and justify hate.
While TPS has since deleted the podcast and issued a weak apology, that is not enough.
We must demand real accountability. Chief Demkiw and the TPS must immediately discipline these officers, launch a full investigation, and publicly denounce their dangerous rhetoric.
