Last week, the House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved a bipartisan measure that rebukes the United Nations for criticizing Israel’s presence in Judea and Samaria. Now it’s the Senate’s turn. Urge them to adopt a similar resolution. 

Last week, House lawmakers voted 342-80 in favor of a  resolution that declares unwavering support for Israel and insists that the US reject any future actions at the UN that are “one-sided and anti-Israel.”

The House action was taken in response to the Obama administration’s abstention in the passing of Resolution 2334 at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) last month, which condemns Israeli “settlements” – i.e. Israeli communities in eastern Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria – as an obstacle to a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

“Our government abandoned our ally Israel when she needed us the most,” said House Speaker Paul Ryan. “It is time to repair the damage done by this misguided hit job at the UN.”

Now it’s the Senate’s turn.

Last week, Senators Marco Rubio and Ben Cardin introduced S. Res. 6, which which calls for UNSC  Resolution 2334 to be repealed and for the Obama Administration to veto any further anti-Israel resolutions brought forward in that body.

A vote is expected on S. Res. 6 in the near future. This is a critical opportunity to send another strong message to President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry, telling them to “do no more harm to Israel before you leave office.”

We must urge our senators to support the resolution and ensure it is passed with an overwhelming majority. Please act now so that both the Obama Administration and the UN understand that the American people reject the one-sided attacks on the Jewish state.
