The Palestinians and their supporters have attempted to present their struggle as parallel to that of the Native Americans. This push was led by George Bisharat, an anti-Israel activist whose ancestors only immigrated to the holy land in the 1920’s, yet who nevertheless insists that he is an indigenous person who was forcefully uprooted, just like the Native Americans were. In reality, the Jews are Israel’s indigenous people, but that has not stopped Palestinian organizations such as Adalah and the Students for Justice in Palestine from playing on the Native American struggle to serve their own interests. However, numerous Native Americans have rejected any comparison between their struggle and that of the Palestinians, preferring to side with Israel instead.

In fact, 63 percent of Hispanic Americans believe that the Iranian nuclear threat is gigantic, outranking their fear of the Arab Spring, Islamic extremism, and a variety of other potential national security issues.
As President Obama visits Israel as part of a regional Middle East tour, a poll published by Gallup uncovered that American support for Israel is at a record high. 64 percent of the American public supports Israel, while only 12 percent of Americans support the Palestinians and only 23 percent of Americans are undecided. Gallup has noted that there has been a general trend within the American population to view Israel in a favorable light, while the number of Americans who were undecided about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has greatly declined.

Chloe Simone Valdary, 19, a non-Jewish student of international relations at the University of New Orleans, has just opened a pro-Israel student group on her campus called Allies of Israel with the support of CAMERA, a pro-Israel organization in the United States that often assists pro-Israel student groups. For their opening event, Allies of Israel is hosting the world renowned Middle East expert Daniel Pipes, who will be discussing the threats that Israel faces. This is all happening on a campus that has fewer than 100 Jewish students, no kosher food and no Jewish studies courses. Yet, thanks to the courageous efforts of Chloe, even students at the University of New Orleans will learn about Israel despite the lack of a strong Jewish presence at the school.
