Egyptian Leader Calls For Conquest Of Jerusalem

Israel has had a peace treaty with Egypt since 1979. Concerns have risen regarding the status of that treaty since the Muslim Brotherhood ascended to power this past year with the election of their representative Mohammed Morsi, as president. Those concerns should no longer be taken lightly.

Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood spiritual leader Mohammed Badie said the following in his weekly message to his followers:

“The jihad for the recovery of Jerusalem is a duty for all Muslims. The conquest of Jerusalem will not be done through negotiations or at the United Nations.”

These calls are not new from Badie. He has called on the international community to pressure the “Zionist government to withdraw from the land of Palestine,” demanding that “The international community rectify the historic injustice” of Israel’s birth. He also wrote that “Once we rise to power we will change many things in Egypt’s policy, starting with the country’s relations with Israel which have caused us great harm.”
