Hoy en la historia judía / Tropas británicas ocupan Baghdad y liberan a los judíos oprimidos

Itongadol.- El 3 de febrero de 1917 tropas británicas ocuparon Baghdad, Irak, y liberaron a los judíos oprimidos que vivían allí, los cuales habían sufrido torturas, extorsiones y reclutamientos obligatorios por el gobierno turco.

Los judíos establecieron ese día como una fecha celebratoria y la declararon una festividad (Yom Ness). Su libertad duró hasta 1929 cuando los ingleses garantizaron la independencia de Irak y se prohibió todo tipo de actividad sionista.
