Israeli poets Rachel Bluwstein and Leah Goldberg now grace Israel's new 20 and 100 NIS notes. Both women wrote in Hebrew, though it was not their first language. Rachel, born in Imperial Russia, learned Hebrew by listening to children. Leah Goldberg, born to a Jewish Lithuanian family, dreamed of being able to write in Hebrew. This is their story.
