La rivalidad entre el grupo terrorista Hamas y el partido Fatah de Mahmoud Abbas se ha vuelto cada vez más violenta.

El miembro del Comité Central de Fatah, Jamal Muhaisen, declaró recientemente que Hamas es un «movimiento terrorista» y que «incluso si se rehabilitara a las personas que fueron encarceladas o se les rompieran los brazos o las piernas, volvería a sus viejas costumbres en cuestión de meses».

Muhaisen hizo los comentarios durante una entrevista televisiva en medio de la brutal represión de Hamas contra las protestas económicas en Gaza, durante la cual cientos de palestinos se amotinaron en respuesta al régimen represivo de Hamas, que desperdicia millones de personas por el terror en lugar de asignar recursos para las necesidades básicas de la gente.

Muhaisen se refirió a Hamas como «el ISIS en Palestina», refiriéndose al grupo islámico que aterrorizó a grandes extensiones de Siria e Irak.
