Los Altos del Golán son un área importante, especialmente dada la actual crisis humanitaria existente a escasos kilómetros al norte fruto de la guerra civil en Siria. Esto es lo que necesitas saber sobre el área.
En 1967, Israel luchó contra el ejército sirio y capturó dos tercios de los Altos del Golán. Después de numerosas ofertas de paz fallidas, Israel eventualmente anexó el territorio en 1981 (aunque la comunidad internacional no reconoce esta anexión).

In 1967, Israel fought off the Syrian army and captured 2/3rds of the Golan Heights. After numerous failed peace offers, Israel eventually annexed the territory in 1981 (though the international community does not recognize this annexation). The Golan Heights is an important area, especially given the current humanitarian crisis and civil war in Syria. It's high elevation also protects the Jewish communities living there from the non-stop attacks which they used to face when Syria controlled the area. There is no simple solution to this dispute, but the international community should be asking itself a basic question: Would giving this territory to Syria really promote justice, peace, and human rights for the communities living there?Let's take a look at the situation:
