La Declaración de Balfour del 2 de noviembre de 1917 fue una carta del secretario de Asuntos Exteriores británico Arthur Balfour al líder de la comunidad judía Baron Rothschild, declarando que «el gobierno de Su Majestad ve con buenos ojos el establecimiento en Palestina de un hogar nacional para el pueblo judío».
En 1922, la Liga de las Naciones adoptó esta postura e hizo que el Mandato Británico «fuera responsable de poner en práctica la declaración», la cual condujo al voto de la ONU en 1947 y al establecimiento del Estado de Israel en 1948.
