El Actual director de la Agencia Jud\u00eda para Israel, Herzog fue el principal opositor a Benjamin Netanyahu en las elecciones de 2015, liderando al Partido Laborista. Hijo del expresidente Jaim Herzog, ser\u00e1 el primer hijo de un presidente en ocupar ese mismo rol.<\/p>\n

La votaci\u00f3n concluy\u00f3 con una victoria aplastante por parte de Herzog, 87 votos a favor de su candidatura, mientras que Peretz obtuvo 26 votos.<\/p>\n

Su rival fue Miriam Peretz. Nacida en Marruecos, Peretz es docente y activista. En 1998, su hijo Uriel muri\u00f3 sirviendo a las FDI en el L\u00edbano. Su esposo muri\u00f3 poco tiempo despu\u00e9s y en 2010, su hijo Eliraz muri\u00f3 en un operativo en Gaza.
