Mi nombre es Ramzi Batesh y vivo en el barrio de Jerusalem de Beit Safafa. Trabajo en el centro de United Hatzalah y como uno de los t\u00e9cnicos de emergencias m\u00e9dicas y conductores de ambulancias voluntarios de la organizaci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p>\n

El pasado viernes salv\u00e9 a tres personas que sufr\u00edan emergencias m\u00e9dicas. Esto no es necesariamente inusual, pero ten\u00eda algo \u00fanico debido a a qui\u00e9n trat\u00e9 y d\u00f3nde.<\/span><\/p>\n

El d\u00eda comenz\u00f3 con las oraciones de la ma\u00f1ana. Luego recib\u00ed y respond\u00ed a una emergencia m\u00e9dica que involucraba a un hombre jud\u00edo que hab\u00eda sufrido una convulsi\u00f3n. Lo trat\u00e9 protegi\u00e9ndole la cabeza para asegurarme de que no sufriera ninguna lesi\u00f3n grave, proporcion\u00e1ndole mientras tanto ox\u00edgeno.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cuando regres\u00e9 a casa, me prepar\u00e9 para las principales oraciones del viernes a las que planeaba asistir en la mezquita de Al-Aqsa. Conduje hasta la Ciudad Vieja y, cuando llegu\u00e9 al estacionamiento del Barrio Jud\u00edo, recib\u00ed una alerta de una emergencia m\u00e9dica que involucraba a una persona inconsciente en el cercano Barrio Musulm\u00e1n. Corr\u00ed a la direcci\u00f3n dada y se me unieron dos t\u00e9cnicos de emergencias m\u00e9dicas jud\u00edos, Shlomo Eisenman y Yagel Mizrachi, a quienes conozco bien.<\/span><\/p>\n

Encontramos a un hombre de unos 60 a\u00f1os inconsciente en el suelo de su apartamento. No respiraba y no ten\u00eda pulso. Junto con Shlomo y Yagel, conect\u00e9 un desfibrilador y realizamos un protocolo de RCP completo que inclu\u00eda compresiones tor\u00e1cicas y ventilaci\u00f3n asistida, as\u00ed como dos descargas del desfibrilador.<\/span><\/p>\n

Continuamos nuestros esfuerzos durante m\u00e1s de 30 minutos, junto con una ambulancia m\u00f3vil de cuidados intensivos que lleg\u00f3 poco despu\u00e9s. Al final, logramos recuperar el pulso y el hombre comenz\u00f3 a respirar nuevamente. Fue trasladado al hospital en estado grave pero estable. Me hab\u00eda perdido oraciones, pero estaba salvando una vida, que siempre es m\u00e1s importante.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mientras recog\u00eda mi equipo para irme a casa, recib\u00ed otra alerta. Esta vez fue una emergencia m\u00e9dica en la Puerta de Jaffa.<\/span><\/p>\n

Corr\u00ed en mi moto y un miembro de la familia preocupado me dirigi\u00f3 hacia el barrio cristiano, donde encontr\u00e9 a un hombre cristiano que sufr\u00eda de una grave dificultad para respirar. Le proporcion\u00e9 ox\u00edgeno de alto flujo y sus niveles de saturaci\u00f3n de ox\u00edgeno aumentaron lentamente. Me qued\u00e9 con el hombre hasta que lleg\u00f3 una ambulancia y el equipo lo transport\u00f3 al hospital.<\/span><\/p>\n

Todos los d\u00edas, me siento en el centro de despacho y dirijo a nuestros voluntarios para que traten a personas de todas las edades, religiones y nacionalidades; personas que son como yo y que necesitan atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica. Cuando termino mi turno, me convierto en voluntario y, con la ayuda de otros colegas, respondo a las emergencias para ayudar a las personas sin importar las fronteras raciales o religiosas.<\/span><\/p>\n

Para m\u00ed, es una fuente de orgullo trabajar y ser voluntario con personas de ideas afines, quienes creen que no importa qui\u00e9n requiera ayuda, estaremos all\u00ed para ayudarlos.<\/span><\/p>\n

Creemos esto porque todos somos, ante todo, humanos, y el valor de la vida humana supera todos los dem\u00e1s l\u00edmites. En esto, estamos unidos.<\/span><\/p>\n
