By United with Israel Staff

The British government has officially designated Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization, making it a criminal offense to support or assist the powerful military force anywhere in the United Kingdom.

Security Minister Angela Eagle said the decision followed evidence linking the IRGC to threats against individuals and intimidation campaigns on British soil.

The designation was made under newly enacted national security legislation that gives the government counterterrorism-style powers to outlaw foreign state-backed organizations involved in hostile activity against the UK.

Under the new rules, it is now a criminal offense to belong to the IRGC, express support for it, assist its activities, or receive material benefits on its behalf. Violators face severe criminal penalties.

The government also designated the Islamic Movement of Companions of the Right (IMCR), an Iran-linked organization, following a series of attacks targeting Britain’s Jewish community.

In addition, Britain designated the volunteer corps of Russia’s military intelligence agency, the GRU, citing sabotage and other hostile operations directed against the UK and its European allies.

The move fulfills a pledge by Prime Minister Keir Starmer to strengthen Britain’s response to hostile state actors after a series of Iranian-linked plots and antisemitic attacks raised security concerns. The legislation was fast-tracked earlier this year to provide authorities with powers comparable to those used against terrorist organizations.

The IRGC has long been accused by Western governments of directing terrorist proxies across the Middle East, including Hezbollah, Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and the Houthis, while also orchestrating assassination plots, espionage, and intimidation campaigns abroad.

By United with Israel Staff

Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has reportedly been placed under house arrest after Iranian intelligence concluded he maintained extensive contacts with Israel’s Mossad, according to a dramatic New York Times report citing multiple Iranian, Israeli and American officials.

According to the report, four senior Iranian officials said Ahmadinejad is now being held by the intelligence wing of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) after authorities uncovered what they described as years of interactions with Israeli intelligence.

The allegations, if true, would mark one of the most extraordinary intelligence operations ever reported involving a former Iranian leader.

The report claims Israel spent years cultivating Ahmadinejad in what American and Iranian officials described as a yearslong effort to groom him as an intelligence asset who could ultimately replace the Islamic Republic’s leadership.

According to the officials, the plan envisioned Ahmadinejad being installed as Iran’s new leader if the regime were toppled. Once one of Israel’s fiercest enemies—having accelerated Iran’s nuclear program, repeatedly called for Israel’s destruction, and denying the Holocaust—Ahmadinejad allegedly became increasingly disillusioned after being sidelined by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and barred from returning to the presidency.

According to the report, Israeli intelligence viewed the growing rift as an opportunity and began making contact with Ahmadinejad through a series of overseas meetings.

One of the alleged turning points came in 2024, when Ahmadinejad traveled to Budapest to speak at what appeared to be a climate conference at Ludovika University. The report alleges the conference served as a cover for secret meetings with Israeli intelligence operatives.

It further claims then-Mossad chief David Barnea personally traveled to Hungary to meet Ahmadinejad and later informed the CIA that Israel had established contact with the former Iranian president.

The report also alleges Israeli intelligence financed some of Ahmadinejad’s travel and housing expenses and met with him on several occasions abroad, including during trips to Hungary and Guatemala.

According to American and Iranian officials cited in the report, the operation reached its climax during the opening days of this year’s U.S.-Israeli war with Iran.

Following an Israeli airstrike on Ahmadinejad’s compound that reportedly destroyed his armored vehicle and the building housing his security detail, a black Peugeot allegedly driven by Mossad operatives evacuated him to a secret safe house inside Iran.

The report says Ahmadinejad later left the safe house under circumstances that remain unclear. He was not seen publicly again until last week, when he made a brief appearance at the funeral procession for slain Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iranian officials reportedly launched an investigation after the strike and gradually pieced together evidence of Ahmadinejad’s alleged contacts with Israel. Four senior Iranian officials told the publication that he is now under house arrest as the Revolutionary Guards continue investigating the case.

The report also says Ahmadinejad first attracted suspicion years earlier after sending public letters to President Donald Trump and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and after repeatedly slipping away from his IRGC security detail during overseas trips for unexplained private meetings.

His bodyguards reportedly became suspicious after he disappeared for hours during visits abroad, later claiming he had been meeting with university professors.

Neither Israel nor Iran has publicly commented on the report, which alleges that the former Iranian president—once among Israel’s most outspoken enemies—became the focus of a yearslong Mossad effort to cultivate him as a future leader of Iran.

By Shula Rosen

Dark Horse Comics canceled plans to publish Holocaust scholar Dr. Rafael Medoff’s graphic novel “Cartoonists Against the Holocaust” after a dispute over an editor’s push to add criticism of Israel and U.S. immigration policies to the book, Ynet reported.

Medoff said Craig Yoe, an imprint editor for Yoe Books, which distributes through Dark Horse, sought to include language accusing Israel of “war crimes” and drawing comparisons between U.S. immigration detention policies and concentration camps.

Medoff rejected the additions as “factually inaccurate” and said they would turn a World War II history book into a vehicle for contemporary politics.

Medoff described the demands as “antisemitic bullying.”

Dark Horse previously published two of Medoff’s books, “Whistleblowers” and “Cartoonists Against Racism,” without incident.

Medoff and the Jewish civil rights organization StandWithUs said the dispute developed after Hamas’ October 7, 2023, attack on Israel, when Yoe began pressing for criticism of Israel in the new volume.

In a September 1, 2025, email, Yoe said he had “thought long and hard” about placing a separate editor’s note elsewhere in the book without changing its existing introduction.

Yoe wrote that Israel was led by a prime minister against whom “the world’s top war crimes court has issued warrants for his alleged acts of war crimes and crimes against humanity.” He also criticized billions of dollars in U.S. military assistance to Israel for bombs.

“There are no concentration camps in America, and it’s not a Nazi country,” Medoff told Yoe. “Misusing the term ‘concentration camps’ diminishes the suffering that was experienced by the Jewish victims of the real concentration camps in the 1930s and 1940s.”

Medoff said linking Israel to crimes against humanity while invoking the Holocaust effectively accused the country of genocide. Efforts to reach a compromise failed and the project was canceled.

Medoff maintains the book was dropped because he refused to criticize Israel and U.S. policies. Dark Horse legal counsel disputed that account, saying the decision was based solely on financial concerns and repeated scheduling delays by Yoe.

By United with Israel staff

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), a longtime critic of Israeli policy who is reportedly weighing a 2028 presidential campaign, claimed this week that armed Israeli settlers prevented his delegation from leaving a site in Judea and Samaria.

The IDF denied that any visitors were detained, while Republican lawmakers accused Khanna of turning the encounter into a publicity stunt.

Speaking to Reuters from a Palestinian village on Thursday, Khanna said his group had visited an abandoned community that he blamed on settler violence when masked men carrying what he described as U.S.-made M4 rifles surrounded their van.

“We were at a village that Israeli settlers had destroyed. They had destroyed the school, they had destroyed that village, and we were just looking at it,” Khanna said.

Khanna alleged that the armed men refused to let the delegation leave and criticized Israeli soldiers who later arrived, saying they appeared friendly with the settlers while preventing his group from continuing forward.

The IDF rejected the claim that Khanna or members of his delegation had been detained, saying the group had attempted to enter a restricted military area and was prevented from proceeding.

Israel Police also disputed Khanna’s account. Police told NBC News they responded to reports that a group was blocking a route inside a closed military zone under IDF control. By the time officers arrived, they said, IDF soldiers had already stopped the tour group from entering the restricted area.

Police said officers witnessed no violence during the incident. According to the statement, the group’s leader was warned he could be arrested for repeatedly violating the closed military zone order, while participants were informed that civilians were not permitted in the area and were then allowed to leave.

“A review of body-worn camera footage confirms that the group leader was explicitly warned by officers, as this was not his first time violating the Closed Military Zone order,” police said. “He was issued a final warning that any future violations would result in immediate arrest.”

Rep. Greg Murphy (R-N.C.) accused Khanna of seeking attention.

“Sounds like another plea for publicity. Anything to get in front of the camera,” Murphy wrote on X. “Why else would you be there? It isn’t your country.”

Jim Hanson, chief strategist for the Middle East Forum, similarly described the episode as a “performative outrage stunt.”

“You purposely had your tour bus try to enter a zone restricted for civilians,” Hanson wrote. “Local security stopped you and the IDF verified you were not authorized to enter.”

“You were not ‘detained,’ you were properly refused entry,” he added.

Khanna nevertheless used the incident in a fundraising appeal, writing, “If this can happen to an American member of Congress, imagine what life is like for Palestinians who have no smartphones, no security and no national platform.”

A source familiar with the visit also told the New York Post that Khanna declined an Israeli offer to meet former hostages and survivors of Hamas’ October 7 massacre.

According to the source, Khanna’s staff initially described the trip as private and said he did not intend to meet Israeli or Palestinian political figures. Israeli officials later offered to arrange a meeting with former hostages and survivors, but Khanna’s team did not respond despite a follow-up request.

“Congressman Khanna didn’t come to understand the situation. He came looking for a headline,” the source said. “Israel went out of its way to provide Congressman Khanna with access to communities that reflected the complexity of the situation. He chose a different path.”

Khanna has repeatedly taken positions critical of Israel. He opposed President Donald Trump’s 2017 recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, called for a permanent ceasefire during the Gaza war, urged greater scrutiny of U.S. arms transfers to Israel, and boycotted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s 2024 address to Congress.

In 2025, Khanna led efforts urging Washington to recognize a Palestinian state and later co-sponsored a resolution introduced by Rep. Rashida Tlaib accusing Israel of committing genocide against Palestinians.

The snag in Iran is that those who wish to make a deal dare not do so because they lack a popular street base within the Khomeinist movement.

By Amir Taheri, Gatestone Institute

Is the 60-day ceasefire with Iran declared by President Donald Trump last month over? As is often the case with what the mercurial leader of the world’s only superpower says, the answer is yes—but not quite.

In his tongue-lashing of Iran on the margin of the NATO summit in Ankara, Trump compared the present regime in Tehran to cancer that has to be cut off and thrown away.

He labeled Tehran’s leader as “liars” and claimed to have halted negotiations with them.

So, where do we go from here?

A good piece of advice comes from NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, acknowledged as the best Trumpologist around: Always take what Trump says seriously but not literally!

We have witnessed the soundness of that advice since June 2025, when Trump, with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in tandem, launched the 12-day war against Iran.

In the past 13 months, Trump has gamboled from one ceasefire to another, culminating in the 60-day “truce,” which is now in peril.

The 60-day scheme could be described as a “hostile truce,” a new category in the lexicon of international bellicosity. In it, you are supposed to silence your guns and talk to the foe but also keep the option of opening fire when and where you wish.

The 60-day “hostile truce” was designed to suit Trump’s packed early summer agenda, starting with his visit to Beijing, his birthday, the 250th anniversary of American Independence, the FIFA World Cup, the NATO summit, and the Republican Party primaries.

The same “hostile truce” also helped bring down oil prices, tame inflation somewhat, and open space for a new “reds-under-the-bed” campaign at home.

Well, all that is now beyond us. So the question is, where do we go from here?

One easy option is more bombing. But Pentagon data show that US warplanes are forced to hit targets they have already struck several times before.

The other day, a dairy factory in Bandar Abbas was hit for the second time and a radar site in Bushehr for the third. Tehran retaliated by attacking Bahrain and Kuwait, neither of which is a party to the conflict.

Call it gesticulations if you like, but the fact remains that the latest exchanges indicate how clueless both sides are when it comes to a way out of the maze they are caught in.

Trump knows that Tehran will not indeed be forced to submit by merely more bombing.

For its part, Tehran knows that launching missiles and drones at Iran’s Arab neighbors won’t end bombings by Trump. We have a zugzwang that defies even the Mission Impossible squad.

Trump’s description of the Khomeinist regime as a form of cancer is misleading. Cancer cells have a way of spreading and multiplying while destroying healthy ones.

The Khomeinist ideology hasn’t spread beyond Iran’s borders except in the form of paid-for proxies. In fact, the Middle East has made a historic leap away from all such ideologies to embark on a new path to modernity, freedom, and prosperity.

But even if we accept the cancer diagnosis, Trump should know that these days cancers are treated with chemotherapy rather than “cutting off and throwing away.”

There is no doubt that the “Iran problem” could have a military solution.

Theoretically, the US has the power to invade Iran, march on Tehran, bring the leftover Khomeinist leadership to a Nuremberg-style trial, and recruit new leaders as it did in Germany, Italy, Japan, and later in Afghanistan and Iraq.

In practice, however, that option is too risk-ridden to become policy.

But that does not mean that the option of “regime change,” through a mixture of proximity pressure, political spadework, and diplomacy, should be shelved forever.

Right now we face four levels of power in Iran that partly overlap and partly diverge.

The first is Iran’s strong bureaucratic structure with a history of at least five centuries. With Ali Khamenei gone, it is now reasserting its claim for a seat at the high table.

Over more than a year of war, it has shown that it can manage the paraphernalia of statehood without Khamenei’s North Korean-style control.

The second layer consists of political and military figures that have always been keen on rapprochement with the “Great Satan.”

Many of them are US-educated; these are the ones who send their children to the US. In 2015, the Iranian parliament reported that children of some 1,500 senior officials were in the US, while numerous senior officials had Canadian residency permits.

The third layer is represented by several dozen ultra-rich oligarchs, many of them retired one-star generals in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), clerics, or strawmen for senior ayatollahs.

Though not necessarily pro-West, all three above-mentioned groups tend to desire an end to the conflict with the outside world and a return to normality, something Khamenei adamantly rejected.

Finally, we have the hardcore Khomeinist constituency that consists of Mafia-style fraternities linked to the IRGC and the other paramilitary and security services.

Their rivals within the system call them “merchants of sanctions.” Accounting for 10 to 15 percent of the population, they control the street base of the regime, the so-called “dispossessed” masses that are now calling for revenge rather than accommodation with it.

A letter by a number of former diplomats attached to this group sent to Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reminds him of the fate of Walther Rathenau, the German foreign minister who signed the Versailles Treaty and was assassinated as a traitor.

The snag in Iran is that those who wish to make a deal dare not do so because they lack a popular street base within the Khomeinist movement.

And those who can make a deal because they have such a base won’t do so because if they do, they risk losing not only that support but also the wealth and position they have illegally acquired.

In Iran today, the management of uncertainty is the name of the game. More bombing will strengthen the bitter-enders who have fed on raw anti-Americanism for half a century.

Paradoxically, doing nothing may also strengthen them and discredit the accommodationists who are already blamed for having kowtowed to the “Great Satan” and obtained nothing in return.

Not a single dollar of frozen assets has reached Tehran, while huge amounts of sanction-free Iranian oil remain unsold in tankers in the Indian Ocean.

Beyond the stretchable 60-day “hostile truce,” what is needed is a Plan B for Iran that takes into account the realities on the ground and the opportunity for positive change.

By United with Israel Staff

The United States carried out another round of military strikes against Iran on Sunday, targeting dozens of military sites in an effort to further weaken Tehran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), American forces struck Iranian air defense systems, coastal radar installations, missile and drone capabilities, and small naval vessels using fighter aircraft, warships, one-way attack drones, and, for the first time, one-way attack sea drones.

CENTCOM said the operation was intended to degrade Iran’s ability to continue attacking international shipping passing through the strategic waterway.

“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade. Iran does not control it,” CENTCOM said, adding that U.S. forces remain prepared to ensure freedom of navigation despite what it described as Iran’s continued “unwarranted aggression, harassment, threats, and arbitrary declarations.”

Sunday’s operation followed another major U.S. offensive launched Saturday night after Iran attacked the M/V GFS Galaxy, a Cyprus-flagged container ship transiting the Strait of Hormuz. During that operation, U.S. forces struck approximately 140 Iranian military targets, including missile and drone sites, naval assets, coastal surveillance systems, and ammunition storage facilities.

Iran has also expanded its retaliatory campaign, launching attacks against U.S. military installations across the Gulf. Qatar, which has served as a key mediator in ceasefire negotiations, was targeted for the first time since April as Iran launched missiles toward Al Udeid Air Base.

The United Arab Emirates said its air defenses intercepted Iranian missiles and drones, while Bahrain also reported intercepting incoming aerial threats. Jordan confirmed missile impacts on its territory, and authorities in Oman and Kuwait likewise reported Iranian attacks.

An Israeli official said Saturday that Jerusalem is closely monitoring the rapidly escalating confrontation but is not directly involved at this stage.

“Right now we’re on the sidelines, but that could change,” the official said.

In experiments using mouse models, the combined therapy significantly reduced tumor growth, suggesting that targeting the cancer cells’ resistance mechanism could make existing chemotherapy more powerful.

By Pesach Benson, TPS

Israeli scientists have identified a potential new approach to fighting glioblastoma, one of the deadliest forms of brain cancer, by targeting the biological mechanism that causes many tumors to stop responding to chemotherapy.

Although relatively rare, glioblastoma is the most common malignant primary brain tumor in adults. The disease accounts for more than half of all malignant brain tumors and remains among the most difficult cancers to treat.

Despite aggressive treatment combining surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy, glioblastoma often develops resistance to treatment.

Resistance to chemotherapy drugs, including the standard drug temozolomide (TMZ), remains one of the biggest challenges facing researchers.

According to the National Cancer Institute and the American Cancer Society, patients with glioblastoma have a median survival of approximately 12 to 18 months after diagnosis, and only about 5% to 7% survive five years.

However, researchers at Hebrew University of Jerusalem found that an experimental compound called BA-101 can block a biological process that allows glioblastoma cells to survive treatment.

By shutting down this process, researchers were able to restore TMZ sensitivity in drug-resistant tumors in laboratory studies.

The findings, published in the peer-reviewed Cancer Medicine, suggest a possible new strategy for treating patients whose tumors no longer respond to standard therapy.

However, BA-101 remains experimental and will require additional studies and clinical trials before it can be tested as a treatment for patients.

The research, led by Postdoctoral Fellow Dr. Mallikar Nimgampalle and professor Haitham Amal of the Hebrew University, found that glioblastoma cells use a process called nitrosative stress to survive chemotherapy.

Nitrosative stress occurs when cells produce excessive amounts of nitric oxide molecules, creating conditions that help tumors grow, spread, and resist treatment.

By blocking this process with BA-101, a selective inhibitor of neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS), an enzyme involved in producing nitric oxide in cells, the researchers were able to weaken the cancer cells’ defenses.

In laboratory experiments, BA-101 slowed tumor cell growth, reduced the cells’ ability to invade surrounding tissue and increased cancer cell death.

The researchers then tested BA-101 together with temozolomide and found that the combination was more effective than either treatment alone.

In experiments using mouse models, the combined therapy significantly reduced tumor growth, suggesting that targeting the cancer cells’ resistance mechanism could make existing chemotherapy more powerful.

“Temozolomide resistance remains one of the biggest obstacles in treating glioblastoma,” said Amal.

“Our findings suggest that targeting nitrosative stress can restore the tumor’s sensitivity to treatment. While additional studies are needed before this approach can reach patients, these results open an exciting new direction for developing more effective therapies against one of the deadliest cancers.”

The researchers said their findings could point to a new approach in cancer treatment: instead of replacing existing drugs, future therapies could focus on blocking the mechanisms that allow tumors to resist them.

If further studies confirm the findings, disabling these survival pathways could allow treatments that have become less effective to regain their ability to attack cancer cells.

BA-101 has been exclusively licensed from Yissum, the technology transfer company of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, by NeuroNOS, a biotechnology company co-founded by Amal.

NeuroNOS is developing BA-101 as a potential first-in-class therapy for glioblastoma, with the aim of advancing the compound toward future clinical development.

The researchers stressed that the results are still at an early stage and that further testing will be needed to determine whether the approach is safe and effective in humans.

If successful in future studies, the approach could offer a new way to address one of the central challenges in glioblastoma treatment: tumors that develop resistance to existing therapies.

By United with Israel Staff

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee confirmed Saturday that Israeli intelligence warned Washington about an alleged Iranian plot to assassinate President Donald Trump, marking the first public confirmation by a senior U.S. official that the intelligence had been shared.

Speaking to Fox News, Huckabee said Israel alerted the White House after uncovering what he described as a specific threat.

“This week, Israeli intelligence tipped off our side, the president, and our officials that there was a very specific plot that was designed to take out President Trump,” Huckabee said.

The ambassador did not identify who was allegedly behind the plot, how advanced it was, or where an attack was believed to be under consideration. The White House has also declined to release further details of the intelligence.

The confirmation follows an earlier report by The Wall Street Journal, which cited people familiar with the matter as saying Israel had shared intelligence indicating Iran was considering a new operation targeting Trump.

Huckabee said he could not disclose additional classified information beyond what had already been reported publicly.

“I can only speak about what’s in the public reports, and that is that there was a plot, and Israeli intelligence picked it up and shared it with the United States. That is all I can add,” he said.

The ambassador added that the reported plot should be viewed as part of Iran’s longstanding hostility toward the United States rather than as an isolated development.

“This is a longstanding ‘Death to America’ chant they’ve had,” Huckabee said. “They really haven’t changed.”

The warning comes amid renewed fighting between the United States and Iran and increasingly explicit threats against Trump from the Iranian regime.

During funeral ceremonies for former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, mourners in Tehran, Mashhad, and other cities carried banners reading, “We will kill Trump,” while crowds chanted for revenge against both Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Trump has repeatedly acknowledged that he believes he remains Iran’s top target. On Saturday, he warned on Truth Social that 1,000 U.S. missiles were “locked and loaded” and aimed at Iran, with thousands more available if Tehran attempted to assassinate him.

He added that the U.S. military had been instructed to remain prepared for at least a year to “completely decimate and destroy” targets across Iran if such an attack occurred.

A day earlier, Trump told the New York Post that although he did not believe Israel had uncovered anything fundamentally new, Iran had sought to kill him for years.

“I’ve left instructions — if anything happens, to just literally bomb them at levels that they’ve never seen before,” Trump said.

Despite Huckabee’s description of a “very specific plot,” some U.S. officials have offered a more cautious assessment.

According to Israeli television reports, the intelligence involved discussions among Iranian officials about the possibility of assassinating Trump rather than a fully developed operational plan with a designated attacker, location, and timetable. The officials also said Israel had passed similar warnings to Washington over the past year.

Iran’s campaign against Trump dates back to the January 2020 U.S. drone strike that killed Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani, an operation Trump authorized during his first term. Since then, Iranian leaders have repeatedly vowed revenge, and U.S. authorities have disrupted multiple alleged Iranian plots targeting current and former American officials.

By Corey Walker, The Algemeiner

Nearly half of American Muslims hold a favorable view of Hamas, the terrorist group that has controlled Gaza, according to a new Pew Research Center poll published Thursday.

Some 44 percent of American Muslims indicated a “favorable” opinion of Hamas — far outstripping every other religious group surveyed — according to the poll, which surveyed 12,574 US adults from May 4-17, 2026, with a margin of error of plus or minus 1.3 percentage points.

Pew oversampled Jewish and Muslim adults to allow for reliable comparisons between the two groups. The finding suggests a deepening political divide over the war in Gaza, even as the survey was conducted before Hamas’ July 6 announcement that it was dissolving its formal governing body over the territory — a step that stopped short of disarmament, one of the central demands of the US-brokered ceasefire plan.

According to the survey, American Muslims represent an outlier within the broader US public in their views of Hamas. By comparison, four percent of White evangelical Protestants, six percent of White Protestants who are not evangelical, 17 percent of Black Protestants, eight percent of Catholics, two percent of Jews, and 11 percent of religiously unaffiliated Americans hold a favorable opinion of Hamas.

The findings also echo a separate 2024 poll commissioned by the UK-based Henry Jackson Society, which found that 46 percent of British Muslims support Hamas.

Hamas, which seized control of Gaza from the rival Fatah movement in 2007, launched a massacre throughout southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, killing roughly 1,200 people, kidnapping 250 others, and engaging in mass rape. Israel subsequently launched a military campaign to dismantle the terror group and rescue the hostages — an effort that caused widespread destruction across the enclave and has also strained relations between the American Jewish and Muslim communities. Earlier this month, on July 6, Hamas announced it was dissolving its Gaza governing body and transferring administrative authority to a technocratic committee backed by the United Nations, though the group has so far declined to disarm.

Among the poll’s other findings are widely disparate views in how American Muslims see Israel and its people compared with the general US public. Just 26 percent of Muslims hold a favorable view of the Israeli people. By contrast, at least half of every other religious group surveyed — 83 percent of Jews, 74 percent of White evangelical Protestants, 55 percent of White Protestants who are not evangelical, 51 percent of Catholics, and 50 percent of Black Protestants — view the Israeli people favorably.

The survey also finds that Muslims are the only religious group in which about half hold a favorable view of the Palestinian Authority (PA), which controls the West Bank: 50 percent of Muslims view the PA favorably, compared with just 31 percent of Black Protestants, 20 percent of Catholics, 20 percent of White Protestants who are not evangelical, 10 percent of White evangelical Protestants, and 10 percent of Jews.

The Palestinian Authority, which exercises limited self-governance in the West Bank and has long faced accusations of corruption, has for years run a so-called “pay-for-slay” program that rewards terrorists and their families for carrying out attacks against Israelis. Under the policy, the PA makes payments to Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails, the families of “martyrs” killed in attacks on Israelis, and Palestinians injured while carrying out terrorist attacks.

The poll’s findings lay bare a growing rift over Israel and the Palestinians heading into the 2026 midterm election cycle. Muslim politicians such as Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), and Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed (D-MI) have grown increasingly vocal in their opposition to Israel over the nearly three years since the Gaza war began. Several of these politicians have been criticized for declining to directly condemn terrorist groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah while accusing Israel of “genocide.”

As Muslim politicians continue to gain prominence in the US and across Europe, the substantial support for terrorist groups and hostility toward Israel documented within the American Muslim community may carry consequences for US foreign policy.

By Etgar Lefkovitz, JNS

The German parliament on Friday advanced a landmark bill criminalizing the denial of Israel’s right to exist and making it punishable by up to five years in prison.

The historic legislation, which was backed by Germany’s upper house of parliament, the Bundesrat, and now heads to the lower house, the Bundestag, for approval, comes amid an 83% increase in antisemitism in Germany since the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas-led attack on southern Israel.

The initiative, which was introduced by the German western state of Hesse, would impose penalties of up to five years in prison or a fine for statements made publicly that deny Israel’s existence or urge its destruction if they encourage “a willingness to commit acts of antisemitic violence or arbitrary acts.”

The bill is opposed by civil rights groups and free-speech advocates who say it endangers freedom of expression guaranteed by Germany’s Constitution, and supported by the German Justice Minister, the State of Israel and German Jewish community leaders as a necessary legal tool to fight the burst of antisemitism in the country.

Israeli Ambassador to Germany Ron Prosor welcomed the parliamentary decision on Friday.

“The signal is clear: Those who deny Israel’s right to exist and spread antisemitic incitement will not get away with it unpunished,” he wrote on X. “I fervently hope that the German Bundestag will take up the decision and promptly enact the necessary amendment to the Criminal Code.”

The proposed legislation is expected to be examined by the lower house of parliament after the summer recess.

By Ahmed Charai, Gatestone Institute

President Donald Trump’s intransigence on Iran should not be underestimated.

From the beginning, his approach followed a clear sequence: strike, weaken, test, and enforce. American power changed the balance of force.

Diplomacy then tested whether what remained of the Iranian regime could recognize reality and choose restraint. Tehran answered with escalation. Enforcement became unavoidable.

Trump weakened Iran’s military confidence and damaged key elements of its nuclear and strategic infrastructure.

Then he gave the remnants of the regime a final chance: step back, accept restraint, and choose coexistence over confrontation. Iran failed that test.

The resumption of American strikes against Iranian military targets is not a contradiction of diplomacy. It is the consequence of diplomacy being betrayed.

Several weeks ago, I argued that Trump’s opening to Tehran should be understood neither as naïveté nor as surrender. It was a test. It was designed to determine whether a weakened regime still had enough strategic sense to stop before destroying itself.

The answer is now clear.

The regime did not moderate. It did not reassure its neighbors. It did not abandon its hostility toward Israel. It did not choose prosperity for the Iranian people. It returned to its usual methods: missiles, drones, threats, blackmail, and violence. Trump did not abandon diplomacy. Iran destroyed it.

Iran’s renewed aggression in the Gulf is part of the same strategic pattern: pressure the Gulf, threaten Israel, intimidate international trade, and test American resolve. The United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Kuwait have faced direct attacks, but the entire Gulf remains under Iranian threat.

In such moments, leadership matters. Some leaders have responded with clarity, courage, and dignity. The United Arab Emirates has shown that firmness and composure can go together.

Others continue to rely on ambiguity, hoping that caution will protect them from a regime that respects only strength. That illusion has failed many times before.

The regime was offered a way out. It chose escalation.

The Strait of Hormuz now makes this a matter far beyond the Gulf. Protecting Gulf states, freedom of navigation, and international trade cannot be left to the United States alone.

These are European interests. They are NATO interests. They are the interests of every economy that depends on the movement of energy, goods, and commerce through one of the world’s most important waterways.

Europe and NATO must maintain a serious military presence alongside the United States to secure the Gulf and protect maritime trade. When Iran threatens Hormuz, it threatens Washington, Jerusalem, Manama, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait City, Riyadh, Doha, and Muscat.

It also threatens Paris, Berlin, Rome, London, and every capital that depends on global commerce. Maritime security is a collective responsibility.

The question of the Iranian regime itself is different. That has now become a matter of American national security.

A dictatorial regime that publicly tolerates calls for the assassination of the president of the United States cannot be treated as just another difficult adversary. A red line has been crossed.

No dictator, militia leader, or revolutionary movement should believe that threatening an American president and his family can be dismissed as propaganda or answered with another warning. This is deterrence.

The United States must send a clear message to every dictatorship watching: America may negotiate. America may show restraint. America may offer a path away from confrontation.

But if a regime mistakes restraint for weakness, attacks American allies, threatens global trade, and incites violence against the president of the United States, it will face consequences beyond temporary strikes.

That is why the objective cannot be another pause before the next crisis. It cannot be another memorandum, another negotiation, or another diplomatic photo that allows Tehran to regroup.

The objective must be to ensure that this regime can no longer threaten Israel, the Gulf, Europe, or the United States with impunity.

Trump understood this. He used force. He opened a diplomatic door. He waited to see whether Iran’s remaining leadership had the judgment to step back. They did not.

The survival of this regime, in its current form, is incompatible with regional peace, nuclear restraint, freedom of navigation, Israel’s security, Gulf stability, and American interests. A political transition in Iran is no longer a radical idea. It is the most reasonable strategic outcome.

This does not require occupation. It does not require nation-building. It does not require repeating past mistakes. It requires pressure, clarity, and political will.

The United States has options. It can continue to degrade the regime’s military capabilities.

It can isolate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. It can intensify pressure on the financial networks that sustain repression and proxy warfare. It can support the Iranian people’s access to information. It can work with allies to protect Gulf states from missile and drone attacks.

And it can make clear that threats against American leaders and their families will be treated as acts of strategic hostility, not slogans.

Trump gave Tehran a chance. Tehran failed. Now he must finish what he began.

Trump broke that psychological barrier. He proved that American power can be used directly against the regime’s military machine when American interests and allies are threatened.

That achievement should not be wasted.

This is now about the security of the United States, the safety of its allies, the protection of global trade, and the credibility of American deterrence. Every dictatorship is watching.

If Iran can threaten an American president, attack American partners, endanger international trade, and survive with limited consequences, others will draw the wrong lesson.

Trump has reached a defining moment. He can be remembered as the leader who temporarily contained Iran, or as the president who broke the regime’s ability to threaten the region and America itself.

He has already shown the courage to begin. Now he must show the resolve to finish.

Now they pay,” Hegseth wrote.

By United with Israel Staff

The United States launched its third round of strikes against Iran in less than a week on Saturday night after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps attacked another commercial vessel transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

According to U.S. Central Command, American forces began the operation after the IRGC attacked the M/V GFS Galaxy, a Cyprus-flagged container ship, leaving one civilian crew member missing and causing an onboard fire and significant engine room damage that left the vessel unable to continue its journey.

CENTCOM said Iran had once again failed to abide by the Memorandum of Understanding intended to restore freedom of navigation through the strategic waterway.

“Iran was provided yet another opportunity to demonstrate adherence to the Memorandum of Understanding after being held accountable for earlier attacks on commercial vessels but has again failed,” CENTCOM said.

As the strikes began, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth issued a blunt warning to Tehran.

“Iran made a poor choice. Now they pay,” Hegseth wrote.

Late Saturday night, CENTCOM announced that the operation had concluded after U.S. forces struck approximately 140 Iranian military targets using precision munitions launched by land- and sea-based fighter aircraft, drones and naval vessels.

The targets included missile and drone sites, naval capabilities, ammunition storage facilities, communications networks and coastal surveillance positions.

The latest operation brought the total number of Iranian military targets struck by U.S. forces over three nights to more than 300, according to CENTCOM.

The strikes followed a series of increasingly aggressive Iranian actions earlier Saturday. The IRGC Navy declared the Strait of Hormuz closed to all vessels until further notice and until the end of what it called “American interference.” It also announced that it had stopped one vessel with warning shots and targeted a second ship in the strait.

Since early May, CENTCOM said U.S. forces have helped facilitate the passage of more than 800 commercial vessels carrying approximately 400 million barrels of crude oil through the Strait of Hormuz.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs said one Indian national remained missing following the attack on the GFS Galaxy, while 10 other Indian crew members were rescued.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf accused Washington of violating the agreement intended to end the fighting.

“The era of one-sided deals is over,” Ghalibaf wrote on X. “We told you: Keep your word or pay the price. Reality is knocking.”

Iran responded to the latest U.S. strikes with another wave of attacks against American military facilities across the Gulf.

Iranian state media reported that the IRGC launched ballistic missiles at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar and carried out what it described as a heavy attack on logistics and refueling facilities used by U.S. naval and air forces at the Port of Duqm in Oman.

Iran also claimed to have targeted U.S. military assets in Kuwait and Bahrain, including a Patriot air defense system, communications infrastructure and radar installations. Qatar and Kuwait reported intercepting incoming aerial threats, while sirens sounded in Bahrain and residents were told to seek shelter.

In Jordan, the IRGC claimed it struck military infrastructure, including drone storage hangars at Prince Hassan Air Base.

The latest exchange marked another major escalation in the confrontation between Washington and Tehran, with both sides continuing to trade strikes as commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz remained under threat.

Antisemitism now presents itself as a broader indictment that casts Jews and the Jewish state as responsible for the world’s ills, Lévy said.

By Shula Rosen

French philosopher and author Bernard-Henri Lévy warned at the Contemporary Antisemitism Conference in Haifa that hatred of Jews is rising simultaneously across the world and increasingly portrays Jews and Israel as responsible for global problems.

Lévy delivered the closing address at the conference, held July 7-9 at the University of Haifa.

He argued that modern antisemitism survives by adapting its accusations rather than relying on crude slurs that have lost credibility.

Antisemitism now presents itself as a broader indictment that casts Jews and the Jewish state as responsible for the world’s ills, Lévy said.

He also described confronting pro-Palestinian encampments on American university campuses over the past year and warned of a new form of hatred presented through the language of solidarity.

“What is different today, compared with the 1930s, is that a Jew facing persecution no longer has many safe places to go. In Israel, you are threatened on seven fronts. In the United States, antisemitism is surging — just as it is almost everywhere else. Europe, of course, is no exception; the entire continent is being swept by the fever. And as for the Global South, the situation may be even worse. For the first time, antisemitism is rising everywhere at once, at the same pace and with the same intensity,” Lévy told eJewishPhilanthropy after his speech.

Lévy, who has warned about antisemitism for 50 years, also addressed the potential role of academic conferences and a new academic journal in combating the phenomenon.

He warned about the growing role of artificial intelligence in amplifying antisemitic narratives and discussed the response he believes is needed from Jewish philanthropists.

The Contemporary Antisemitism Haifa 2026 conference brought together about 220 in-person presenters and remote participants from some 20 countries.

The gathering focused on contemporary antisemitism, including within academia, and issues involving Zionism and Israel.

Keynote speakers included Lévy, Ambassador (ret.) Prof. Deborah Lipstadt, Prof. Irwin Cotler, Prof. Karin Stögner and Prof. David Hirsh.

The conference was hosted by the University of Haifa’s Elizabeth and Tony Comper Center. It followed the 2025 London gathering and will be followed by a Philadelphia conference in 2027.

By Shula Rosen

Britain’s Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis has warned the Church of England against engaging with a Palestinian Christian document accusing Israel of “genocide,” saying the move could damage decades of Christian-Jewish relationship-building, The Telegraph reported.

The General Synod, the Church’s 467-member legislative body, is set to consider a motion at its annual convention in York encouraging engagement with A Moment of Truth: Faith in a Time of Genocide, published by Kairos Palestine.

The 14-page document, known as Kairos II, calls Israel a “colonial, settler, and exclusionary entity” and describes Palestinians as the “indigenous people of this land.”

“The content of Kairos II is deeply concerning, and I would hope the synod will see it for what it is,” Mirvis said. “While it is important to recognise the suffering of Palestinian Christians, this document does so in a way which can only harm the cause of peace.”

He said the text “presents a one-sided account of a complex conflict, downplays the historical experiences and legitimate concerns of Jewish people, and offers little more than political activism dressed up as theology.”

Kairos II states that “The genocidal war on Gaza is the continuation of the Zionist project to seize all of Palestine, emptied of its Palestinian people.” It condemns the Hamas terror attack in Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, but says the violence was “born out of decades of injustice, oppression and displacement.”

The document also challenges Israel’s claim of self-defense, criticizes the Abraham Accords, and calls on churches to “distinguish between dialogue with Jews and dialogue with Zionism.”

Rabbi Dr. Jonathan Romain, convenor of the Rabbinic Court of Great Britain, called for the document to be withdrawn, while Rabbi Charley Baginsky, co-leader of the Movement for Progressive Judaism and a president of the Council of Christians and Jews, questioned whether Kairos II was the appropriate basis for discussing Palestinian Christian suffering.

The Campaign Against Antisemitism called the document “appalling,” and the Board of Deputies of British Jews said it “risks real harm to Jews in the UK through its dissemination.”

The Venerable Stewart Fyfe, Archdeacon of West Cumberland, who tabled the motion, “absolutely refute[d]” claims he was seeking endorsement of the document’s views. “We’re saying, ‘Let’s at least read these documents, let’s hear why they are saying this, and let’s seek an understanding’,” he said.

The Church of England said the motion followed votes by the Carlisle Diocesan Synod and declined to comment on its merits. The Methodist Church formally accepted the text last month and called for study materials based on it.

By United with Israel Staff

One of Israel’s strongest allies in the U.S. Senate and one of President Donald Trump’s closest political confidants, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), died suddenly Saturday evening following a brief illness, according to a statement released by his office. He was 71.

Graham, a leading Republican voice on national security and one of the Senate’s most outspoken advocates for Israel, had been a fierce critic of the Iranian regime and a vocal supporter of military action to prevent Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

His office said only that he died “following a brief and sudden illness” and asked for privacy for his family during this difficult time. NBC News reported that emergency personnel responded to a call for “cardiac arrest” at Graham’s Capitol Hill home Saturday night, citing police scanner audio.

President Trump mourned the loss of one of his closest allies in the Senate.

“Senator Lindsey Graham, one of the greatest people and Senators I have ever known, is dead!” Trump wrote. “He was always working, and was a true American patriot. Lindsey will be greatly missed.”

The senator had returned just a day earlier from Kyiv, Ukraine, where he met with President Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss the country’s air defense needs and additional sanctions on Russia.

Israeli leaders also responded with an outpouring of tributes, reflecting Graham’s decades-long commitment to the Jewish state.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel had “lost one of its greatest friends.”

“Sara and I grieve with the American people over the loss of our dear friend, Senator Lindsey Graham,” Netanyahu said. “Lindsey understood that the security of Israel and America are inseparable. He devoted his life to defending America, strengthening our alliance and standing up for the free world.”

“Israel has lost one of its greatest friends. America has lost a great patriot. I have lost a beloved friend.”

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir also paid tribute, saying Graham stood with Israel “not because it was easy, but because he believed it was right.”

“The State of Israel will always remember his friendship, his unwavering support, and his steadfast commitment to Israel’s security,” Ben Gvir wrote.

Throughout his Senate career, Graham was one of Israel’s most steadfast defenders on Capitol Hill. He consistently backed military aid to Israel, championed tougher sanctions on Iran, supported Israel’s campaigns against Hamas and Hezbollah, and argued that the United States and Israel faced a common threat from the Iranian regime. In recent months, he had been among the strongest voices supporting U.S. military action against Iran.

His death marks the loss of one of Israel’s most influential and unwavering allies in Washington.

Let us do our utmost to protect Israel AND America!

President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that he would lift U.S. sanctions imposed on Turkey over its purchase of Russian defense missiles and signaled a willingness to sell the NATO ally F-35 fighter jets.

At the NATO conference in Ankara this week, the U.S. president has been singing Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s praises. He described American relations with Turkey as stronger than ever and suggested Ankara’s ties with Washington justify reconsidering the advanced fighter sale.

“I have no concerns at all about anything having to do with Turkey. The relationship with Turkey right now is better probably than it’s ever been,” Trump said.

Trump repeatedly highlighted his fondness for the Turkish president, saying, “We’ve had, right from the beginning, good chemistry. We’ve had a very special relationship.” He also described Turkey as “a very powerful country militarily.”

He also criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for attempting to dissuade the president from selling the fighter planes to Turkey, saying it would “destroy the power balance in the Middle East.”

Speaking to CNN, Netanyahu argued that providing Ankara with the fighter jets would empower a government he said has adopted an increasingly hostile posture toward both Israel and the United States.

“This is not a force for peace and stability. When you give them that power, you’re going to see aggression in its wake,” Netanyahu warned, describing the Turkish government as “a regime that’s infected with the Muslim Brotherhood, which hates the United States.”

“He’s not exactly a model ally of the United States,” Netanyahu said in reference to Erdogan. “He threatens to destroy my country, the one and only Jewish state.”

Indeed, the American president said that he convinced Erdogan not to join Iran in attacking Israel during the recent fighting.

In an interview with Kan News Thursday, Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli warned that a scenario in which Turkey takes military action against Israel is entirely possible.

Erdogan’s hostility toward Israel includes declarations that Turkey intends to liberate Jerusalem and repeat in Israel what it carried out in Syria, Chikli said.

Erdogan, who leads the Islamist AKP Party, has called Israel a “terrorist state” and an “occupier,” compared Netanyahu to Hitler and Stalin, and accused Israel of carrying out genocide.

Trump’s praise for Erdogan is reminiscent of his comments last month about the Iranian leaders when he signed the MoU, describing them as “very rational,” “strong,” “smart,” and “not radicalized.” He even called them “nice to deal with” while selling the U.S.-Iran agreement to the public.

“They’re liars. I don’t want to deal with them anymore. They’re scum,” Trump said when announcing the cancellation of the MoU this week after Iran violated its commitments by targeting multiple commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. “They are vicious, violent people, and if they had a nuclear weapon they would use it,” Trump said.

Trump must not make the same mistake by trusting another Islamist leader who threatens the annihilation of the Jewish state!

Meanwhile, anti-Israel activists are flooding the White House daily with comments!

Message the White House NOW!!!

Call 202-456-1111 or 202-456-1414 (Mon – Thurs 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.EST).

Ask for the “White House Comment Line” and leave a recorded message for the president. Say: “Providing Turkey, which is led by an Islamist regime, with our most advanced fighter jets will ultimately jeopardize U.S. security.”

Alternatively, visit the White House website and leave your comment: https://fightantisemitism.live/contact-the-whitehouse

I may be gone too, because I’m their No. 1 target,” Trump said.

By United with Israel Staff

Israel recently shared intelligence with the United States indicating that Iran is considering a new plot to assassinate President Donald Trump, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.

According to the report, the intelligence suggested Tehran is weighing renewed efforts to target Trump, whom Iranian officials have repeatedly threatened since he ordered the 2020 U.S. strike that killed Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander Qassem Soleimani.

The White House declined to comment directly on the report. However, Trump said Wednesday that he believes he remains Iran’s top assassination target.

Speaking at the NATO summit in Turkey, Trump said, “They had leaders, they’re gone, and they had another set of leaders, they’re gone. Now they have another set of leaders, they may be gone. Who knows? And you know what, I may be gone too, because I’m their No. 1 target.”

“I’m the No. 1, because they’re scum. That’s the way they act, and that’s the way they’ve done it for 47 years, but I’m doing what’s right for the country,” he added.

The report comes as tensions between Washington and Tehran have escalated dramatically in recent days. The United States has carried out multiple rounds of strikes on Iranian military targets following Tehran’s attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, while Iran has responded with missile and drone attacks targeting U.S. military installations across the Gulf.

Iran has repeatedly vowed revenge for Soleimani’s death, and U.S. authorities have disrupted several alleged Iranian assassination plots targeting current and former American officials in recent years. Trump and other senior members of his administration have long been viewed by Tehran as primary targets because of the strike that killed the IRGC commander.

By United with Israel Staff

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Donald Trump held another phone call Thursday evening as Israel and the United States continued coordinating closely amid the escalating confrontation with Iran and growing regional tensions.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Trump updated Netanyahu on the latest U.S. military operations in the Persian Gulf, where American forces have carried out consecutive nights of strikes against Iranian military targets following Tehran’s attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

Netanyahu, in turn, raised what his office described as the increasingly severe anti-Israel rhetoric from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and other senior Turkish officials. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining security zones along Israel’s borders.

The call came just a day after Trump publicly defended Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the NATO summit in Ankara, saying Netanyahu had made “rough” remarks about Turkey while praising Erdogan and signaling continued interest in strengthening U.S.-Turkey defense ties, including a potential sale of F-35 fighter jets.

Despite the ongoing coordination between Washington and Jerusalem, a White House official told Walla on Thursday that there are currently no plans to schedule a meeting between Netanyahu and Trump.

The statement comes despite Trump’s comments over the weekend that the two leaders would meet soon and an announcement from the Prime Minister’s Office last week saying the sides had agreed to hold a meeting in the United States in the near future.

By United with Israel Staff

The conflict between the United States and Iran escalated sharply on Thursday as Tehran launched missile and drone attacks across the Middle East while American forces carried out a second consecutive night of large-scale strikes on Iranian military targets.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced it had attacked U.S. military installations in Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan in retaliation for the latest American airstrikes.

Jordan’s military said it intercepted eight Iranian missiles after Tehran claimed it had targeted the U.S.-operated Muwaffaq Salti Air Base. The missile launches temporarily disrupted operations at Amman’s international airport.

Reuters also reported that a drone strike hit a camp belonging to the Iranian Kurdish opposition northeast of Erbil in Iraq, underscoring the widening scope of the conflict.

Meanwhile, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said American forces struck approximately 90 Iranian military targets overnight, following attacks on roughly 80 targets the previous evening.

The latest operation targeted air defense systems, coastal surveillance assets, missile and drone storage facilities, naval infrastructure, and military logistics sites aimed at degrading Iran’s ability to threaten shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian media reported explosions in several cities, including Bushehr, Bandar Abbas, Kerman, and Asaluyeh. Officials in Bushehr province also said areas surrounding Iran’s only nuclear power plant were struck.

According to Iranian reports, U.S. strikes also hit a strategic railway bridge in northern Iran that serves as a key overland trade route linking Iran with Russia and China, as well as the observation tower at Chabahar Port, which monitors vessel traffic entering and leaving the Strait of Hormuz.

President Donald Trump confirmed the latest U.S. strikes, describing them as retaliation for Iran’s attacks on commercial shipping.

“This is in retribution for yesterday’s bombing of ships by Iran,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “If it happens again, it will get much worse!”

The latest exchange follows Iran’s attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, which prompted Washington to abandon a temporary ceasefire understanding and launch a major military campaign against Iranian targets.

With missile attacks now reaching multiple Gulf states and Jordan, concerns continue to grow that the conflict is expanding into a broader regional war.

By Gila Isaacson, JFeed

Every Messi jersey sold around the world carries a design with roots in Argentina’s Jewish community, a story that has resurfaced as the team makes its way through this year’s World Cup.

The crest worn by Argentina’s national team, a vertical shield with laurel branches symbolizing victory and, since 2022, three stars representing the country’s World Cup titles, was designed in 1976 by Norberto “Toto” Rud, then in his late twenties and a member of Club Náutico Hacoaj, a Jewish sports and cultural club in Buenos Aires.

Rud, who worked as a businessman and had a lifelong passion for graphic design, noticed that while many European national teams wore distinctive emblems recognizable even on black and white television, Argentina’s sky blue and white jerseys had no equivalent visual identity, easily confused with club teams wearing similar stripes.

He prepared roughly twenty design proposals and submitted them to the Argentine Football Association, whose president and executive committee ultimately selected his design.

The crest debuted on November 28, 1976, in a scoreless friendly against the Soviet Union in Buenos Aires, and has remained essentially unchanged since, aside from the addition of the three stars marking Argentina’s 1978, 1986, and 2022 World Cup titles.

Rud developed his love of the sport at Hacoaj, which was founded in 1935 by Jewish immigrants to Buenos Aires and remains one of Latin America’s most prominent Jewish sporting institutions, with roughly 10,000 members across five facilities.

The club, whose name means strength in Hebrew, has produced other notable Jewish athletes, including former world number eight tennis player Diego Schwartzman.

Rud died in 2010 at age 61 and is buried in Buenos Aires’ La Tablada, Latin America’s largest Jewish cemetery, having lived to see Argentina wear his crest to two World Cup titles but not the third.

Hacoaj’s president, Osvaldo Ofman, told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency it is a tremendous source of pride for the club that one of its members created the national federation’s crest, saying the design carries a piece of Hacoaj and Argentina’s Jewish community into an emblem recognized around the world.

Rud’s son, Oliver, said he and his brother still marvel at the fact their father designed the crest nearly fifty years ago, calling it a way of feeling a piece of him every time the team takes the field.

By Shula Rosen

Joe Slyper, believed to be the oldest Jewish man in the United Kingdom and the oldest member of the United Synagogue, is set to celebrate his 107th birthday on July 15 after a lifetime spanning more than a century of British and world history, Jewish News reported.

Born in East London in 1919, Slyper has lived through major events including the Battle of Cable Street and World War II.

Over the course of his life, he has also witnessed the reigns of five British monarchs and the premierships of 24 prime ministers, from David Lloyd George to Keir Starmer.

A lifelong Tottenham Hotspur supporter and great-grandfather, Slyper is also the oldest resident at Nightingale Hammerson, where staff praised his outlook and vitality ahead of his birthday.

“Despite his impressive age, Joe looks 20 years younger and is known for his warm smile,” Nightingale Hammerson said, adding that it is “delighted to celebrate Joe’s extraordinary birthday and the incredible life he continues to lead.”

Slyper volunteered for the British Army in 1939, serving first as a signaller before rising to the rank of sergeant with the 9th Battalion of the Devonshire Regiment.

One year after completing his military service, he married his late wife, Rose, at East London Synagogue. The couple remained together for 73 years.

His lifetime has also spanned sweeping technological changes, from handwritten correspondence to smartphones and artificial intelligence.

Reflecting on his approaching birthday, Slyper expressed gratitude for his long life and described how he now spends his time.

“I’ve had a good life. I feel blessed. And now I have time to enjoy the time I have left, playing games on my iPad,” he said.

The milestone birthday will be marked on July 15 as Slyper reaches 107 years of age, adding another chapter to a life that has stretched across more than 10 decades of British history, military service and family life.

By Shula Rosen

A U.S. military team is expected to arrive in Beirut within days to begin planning a pilot arrangement for the transfer of territory from the Israel Defense Forces to the Lebanese Armed Forces, U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa told Lebanese President Joseph Aoun.

The visit is intended to establish how the initial phase of the territorial transfer will be carried out and to coordinate preparations before implementation.

A Lebanese statement issued after the meeting said officials are moving forward with preparations for the pilot areas.

It added that “it is essential to avoid any vacuum upon the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the designated area, and based on the outcomes of the coordination meetings, the timeline for on-the-ground implementation will be determined.”

The announcement comes as Lebanon weighs participation in another round of negotiations.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has maintained that the Israel Defense Forces will keep their positions and a buffer security zone in southern Lebanon.

He insists forces will remain as long as necessary until Hezbollah is disarmed, the threat to northern Israel is removed, and Israeli security needs are fully guaranteed

A Lebanese diplomatic source told AFP on Tuesday that Beirut wants Israel to complete its promised withdrawal from two “pilot zones” in southern Lebanon and transfer them to the Lebanese army before Lebanon joins talks scheduled for next week in Rome.

Issa said the venue for the negotiations was changed from Washington to Rome “due solely to technical reasons related to facilitating the travel of ambassadors and delegation members.”

He also said expert working groups would be established to implement the three-party agreement reached in Washington last month.

Discussing Aoun’s upcoming visit to the United States, Issa said the invitation “reflects the extent of attention that President Trump accords to Lebanon and his efforts to achieve security and stability there and end the suffering of its people.”

The U.S. delegation’s visit is expected to focus on practical planning for the pilot transfer as the parties continue preparations for the next stage of the Washington agreement and the upcoming negotiations in Rome.

By Shula Rosen

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi were confronted by hard-line regime supporters during funeral ceremonies for former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in Tehran, with demonstrators chanting against the two officials as divisions over negotiations with the United States appeared to surface publicly.

Footage obtained by the opposition outlet Iran International showed participants in Monday’s funeral procession directing hostile chants at senior Iranian leaders.

One video showed supporters opposed to talks with Washington surrounding Pezeshkian while chanting “death to the compromiser” as he attended the funeral of Khamenei, who was killed by Israel in the opening strike of the war on February 28.

A separate video published by Iran International showed participants shouting “death to the traitor” and “shameless” at Araghchi as he walked through the streets of Tehran.

The demonstrations took place hours before Iran attacked tankers in the Strait of Hormuz overnight from Monday into Tuesday, triggering another exchange of fire with the U.S. military.

Araghchi is leading negotiations with the United States as part of a team headed by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.

The New York Times reported that divisions have emerged within Iran’s conservative leadership, describing rival camps of “pragmatists” and hard-line conservatives.

According to the report, the pragmatist camp includes Ghalibaf, Pezeshkian, Supreme National Security Council head Mohammad Bagher Zolqadr and senior Revolutionary Guards generals whose names were not published.

The New York Times said the pragmatists are opposed by senior Revolutionary Guards generals who have strengthened their influence since the war.

Iranian state television, which the report said is aligned with the Revolutionary Guards, has intensified criticism of the negotiating team since the war, including attacks on Araghchi, who has been portrayed as favoring concessions in negotiations.
