U.S. News & World Report ranked Israel the tenth most powerful country in the world.

In the U.S. News & World Report‘s 2022 rankings, Israel made an impressive showing, punching well above the tiny nation’s weight class.
Despite having only around 9.5 million citizens, Israel ranked tenth in U.S. News‘ rankings, based on the nation’s robust military and the key role it plays in the global economy.
U.S. News gave Israel a scored of 67.3 for “strong international alliances,” 25.8 for leadership, and 35.6 for economic strength.
According to U.S. News‘ description, “Israel, the only Jewish nation in the world, is a small country on the eastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea. For its relatively small size, the country has played a large role in global affairs.”
The other countries in the top 10 were:
1. United States
2. China
3. Russia
4. Germany
5. United Kingdom
6. South Korea
7. France
8. Japan.
9. United Arab Emirates
According to U.S. News, “Israel has a technologically advanced market economy with cut diamonds, high-technology equipment and pharmaceuticals among its major exports.”
The report concluded, “The country is very highly developed in terms of life expectancy, education, per capita income and other human development index indicators.”
For the purposes of these rankings, U.S. News defined “powerful” countries as “the ones that consistently dominate news headlines, preoccupy policymakers and shape global economic patterns.”
The report continued, “Their foreign policies and military budgets are tracked religiously. When they make a pledge, at least some in the international community trust they will keep it. These countries project their influence on the world stage.”
