The Jewish state ranked 28th on the list of the 50 best hotspots, jumping eight places since last year’s survey.

Readers of the UK’s Telegraph travel section recently voted for Israel as one of the world’s best countries to visit.

More than 75,000 readers voted in the 2015-16 Telegraph Travel Awards for the best destinations, airlines, tour operators and cruise lines worldwide. The Jewish state ranked 28th on the list of the 50 best hotspots, jumping eight places since last year’s survey.

“Security concerns do not seem to have undermined your enjoyment of Israel’s fascinating sights,” Telegraph Travel noted. “And it’s not surprising — whatever your political views, Jerusalem in particular is one of the world’s greatest historical destinations and is too often overlooked as a destination for a fascinating city break.”

Other countries on the list include Chile, Brazil, Burma and Japan. Telegraph Travel readers voted New Zealand their favorite country for the fourth year in a row, followed by the Maldives and South Africa. Rounding off the top 50 was France.

Audley took home the award for best tour operator and Cape Town was voted best city, while British Airways was named best airline.
