Israeli Firemen Putting Out Blaze Attacked By Arab Rioters

Israeli firefighters attempting to put out a blaze spreading towards an Arab neighborhood were attacked by rocks, bricks and firebombs thrown by rioting Palestinians.

Palestinian mobs threw stones and firebombs at a group of Israeli firefighters that arrived in the Atarot Industrial Zone in Northern Jerusalem to put out a fire. The Atarot Industrial Zone is adjacent to an Arab neighborhood. Had this fire not been put out, it is quite likely that the fire would have spread to the nearby Arab neighborhood, yet this did not stop the Palestinian rioters from attacking the Israeli firefighters. The Israeli firefighters were only able to leave under the escort of the Israeli Border Police. One of the Israeli fire trucks sustained damage from the Palestinian rioters.

In a similar incident not too long ago, Israeli firefighters arrived near the Arab village of Issawiya within the municipality of Jerusalem, in order to prevent a fire from reaching Arab homes. The local Palestinian population responded by throwing stones and bricks at the Israeli firefighters who arrived in order to put out the blaze. One of the firefighters was injured and treated for his wounds at the Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital. The firefighters required the interference of the Israeli police in order to put out the fire.

ROCK ATTACKS ON THE RISE

The Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Subcommittee on Judea and Samaria has recently reported that Arab rock attacks against Jews were 2.5 times more frequent in 2012 than they were in 2011 and that the numbers thus far for 2013 are 3.5 times those of 2011. The average number of rock terror attacks within Judea and Samaria is 54, according to the Israel Defense Forces. In 2012, the average number of rock terror attacks was 58, while it was only 19 in 2011.

ROCKS ARE DANGEROUS

Rocks are lethal weapons that can kill and wound people, as illustrated by how a Palestinian rock throwing terror attack resulted in the murder of the infant Yonatan and his father Asher Palmer and the severe wounding of two-year-old Adele Bilton by a Palestinian rock thrower. In other instances, Palestinian rioters threw huge rocks at Israeli vehicles with the intention of murdering every one inside, even though the car was damaged, the people inside the car manage to escape with their lives.
