Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated Monday that he views Arab nations’ “normalization” of relations with the Jewish state as the possible key to achieving peace with the Palestinians.

“I believe that if we have peace with the broader Arab world, it will help us get to peace with the Palestinians,” Netanyahu explained in an interview with Lithuania’s LRT public broadcaster.

Netanyahu visited the Baltic nation to improve ties with Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia during a regional summit.

In the LRT interview, Netanyahu stressed that Israel is increasingly finding common ground with its Arab neighbors in the region, all of whom face the looming threat of Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

The Islamic Republic also continues to menace Israel, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Lebanon, and Syria with terror proxies such as Hezbollah and Hamas, which Iran arms, trains, and finances.

While Israel has only secured peace treaties with Egypt and Jordan, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman recently recognized Israel’s right to exist and indicated he envisions the potential for open diplomatic relations in the future in an interview with The Atlantic.

Both Israel and Saudi Arabia find themselves the target of Iranian threats and aggression, including recent rocket attacks attributed to the Islamic Republic.

While Netanyahu did not explicitly connect the dots in his interview in Lithuania, countries such as Saudi Arabia may be incentivized to pressure the Palestinians into coming to an agreement with Israel based on Arab nations’ pressing need for a unified front against Iran.
