Is Starbucks about to make a comeback in Israel?
The coffee chain left Israel about two decades ago, but Yedioth Ahronoth and its business news outlet Calcalist report that “a prominent investor in Israel is looking to land concessions to open Starbucks stores,” as cited by investment news outlet Seeking Alpha.
“Harel Wiesel, owner of Fox Group, is in talks to establish a food partnership with brothers Ari and Yoram Yerzin, veteran restaurateurs who own several successful restaurants,” reports Arutz7. They are said to be working on the possibility of obtaining a Starbucks franchise.
The company operates in the Americas, China/Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East, and Africa, notes Seeking Alpha.
After “upgrading its types of coffee and expanding its range of baked goods and food, and [with] the increase in the number of tourists coming to Israel who are used to the chain,” Starbucks would have a greater chance of succeeding this time around in the Jewish State, says Arutz7.
As of October 15, 2019, the company operated approximately 30,000 stores, says Seeking Alpha. It is based in Seattle, Washington.
In another Israeli-Starbucks connection, “Israeli food-tech startup Milkit recently completed a test of its milk-on-tap invention at 10 Starbucks Germany locations,” reported Israel21c.
“The system consists of a patented environmentally friendly 15- or 17-liter bag connected to an electric tap that delivers precise amounts of milk quickly and efficiently via a programmable pouring mechanism,” it said.
The four-month-long pilot in Munich and Hamburg resulted in an 8% savings on milk consumption, reported Calcalist.
