Dozens of Southern Israeli communities continue to be bombarded by rockets fired from Islamists in Gaza. Today, a qassam rocket fell near a school in Ashkelon and the building was damaged from this attack. Fortunately, due to the cancellation of the schools in Southern Israeli communities, no children were injured. Yet, had school not been called off, this rocket attack could have harmed many children.

According to the Jerusalem Post, the Iron Dome managed to stop rockets on eight occasions today, but that did not stop a barrage of rockets from being fired towards Southern Israeli communities ranging from Ashdod to Ashkelon to Be’ersheva. In fact, Arutz Sheva reported that over 25 rockets were sent towards the Sderot area within a period of one hour and a home within Ashkelon was severely damaged as well.

Last night, a house in Kiryat Malachi was struck. 17-year-old Gal Golberg reported, “We saw widespread wreckage.” Yesterday, Ashdod was also under a heavy barrage of rockets. The Jerusalem Post reported that six rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome, while one smashed straight into a residential building, wounding two residents. According to Yedioth Achronot, a rocket also hit a home in the Be’er Tuvia Regional Council and a car in Ofakim yesterday. In Ofakim, five people were injured, including a couple with their two-year-old daughter.

Yet, as if all of this were not bad enough, Arutz Sheva also reported that Israeli residents of Judea and Samaria, as well as Jerusalem, have noticed increased violence directed towards them since Operation Pillar of Defense began. Palestinian Authority Arabs in the greater Jerusalem area, as well as Judea and Samaria, have been throwing rocks with increased intensity, setting off more firebombs, and even shot gunshots towards Israelis utilizing roads in Judea and Samaria and greater Jerusalem. This has caused damage to Israeli vehicles, and in one instance caused a woman to go into a traumatic shock when her vehicle came under attack.
