After Hananya Naftali finished his medical training in the Israel Defense Forces, he was sent back to his unit to serve as a combat medic on the Israeli-Syrian Border.

Injured Syrians would arrive at the field hospital at all hours of the night, desperately in need of emergency medical assistance, some of them near death.

Sometimes Hananya wondered why he was awake at 4 AM, saving the lives of Syrians.
