Metal detectors are accepted without protest by millions of Muslims arriving from across the globe in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, for the Hajj, an annual Islamic pilgrimage.

The detectors are seen as a necessary security measure in a world increasingly under attack by Islamic terrorists.

Metal detectors can therefore be seen at large gatherings throughout the Arab world and beyond, including Jerusalem’s Western Wall.
