Giving a platform to a Palestinian prisoner and terrorist leader convicted of multiple murders was “a choice by the editors…a choice by the newspaper.”

Yifa Segal, director of the Jerusalem-based International Legal Forum, was not surprised by what Marwan Barghouti, a prisoner in Israel serving five consecutive life sentences, wrote in his anti-Israel propaganda piece in the New York Times, because, she explains, he is a murderer and a liar.

But she was was “completely appalled” that he was given a platform to spread his “fake news” and incitement to violence and anti-Semitism as well as “credibility and legitimacy.”

“I condemn the New York Times,” Segal stated, adding that “a moral line was definitely crossed.”

Publishing an op-ed by Marwan Barghouti, a prisoner in Israel serving five consecutive life sentences, was a “terrible mistake. It was a choice by the editors…a choice by the newspaper.”
