A memorial to the victims of the Holocuast in a country that once had a thriving Jewish community was razed to the ground by anti-Israel factions in Morocco.

After a German organization constructed a Holocaust memorial in Marrakesh, Moroccan authorities demolished it, deriding it as a “Zionist” symbol that attempted to establish a “second Israel” in Morocco.

According to a report on BBC Arabic, the German NGO was trying to build the largest Holocaust memorial in the world to improve relations between Islamic countries and Jews.

The same BBC report explained that local authorities destroyed the memorial after just one year.
