Guterres and Netanyahu

In Israel for the first time since becoming UN secretary-general on Jan. 1, 2017, Guterres expressed hope for improving the world body’s relationship with the Jewish state.

You don’t have to be the Israeli prime minister to understand that the UN has had a troubled relationship with Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu told UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres at his residence in Jerusalem.

The Israeli leader noted the UN’s absurd bias against the Jewish state, but praised the UN chief for recognizing that calls to destroy Israel reflect modern-day anti-Semitism.

Will the UN turn a new page in its relationship with the Jewish state?
