In what could be dubbed a “workplace accident,” an accidental explosion killed 16 Islamic State terrorists.
Sixteen ISIS fighters, including senior leaders, were killed when a suicide vest malfunctioned and detonated during a strategy meeting.
Quoting Al-Sumaria, an Iraqi news outlet, Al-Masdar News reported the accident left a further 16 wounded. The vest detonated in al-Mahaws village, 34 miles southwest of Kirkuk.
According to Al-Sumaria, “A number of the ISIS members were wearing explosive belts during the meeting, and the explosion took place due to a defect in one of them. The meeting was held to prepare for an attack on the positions of the security forces in Hamrin Mountains, al-Zawiya area and Ajil area in Salahuddin Province.”
