The US State Department released a report that largely blames Israel for Muslim aggression and justifies Palestinian violence. We must protest this!
Late last month, the US Department of State released a report that points the finger at Israel for Muslim aggression and Palestinian violence.
The State Department report clearly blames Israel for Arab terrorism, citing a “lack of hope in achieving Palestinian statehood, Israeli settlement construction in the West Bank, settler violence against Palestinians in the West Bank, the perception that the Israeli government was changing the status quo on the Haram Al Sharif/Temple Mount, and IDF tactics that the Palestinians considered overly aggressive.”
The report fails to mention the numerous peace offers that the Palestinian Authority (PA) has rejected, or the fact that past Israeli concessions unleashed even more Arab terror and violence.
The report’s conclusions contradict statements by President Donald Trump and US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley, both of whom have linked the PA’s incitement and terrorist salaries to violence against Israelis.
The State Department also omits the fact that PA leader Mahmoud Abbas is personally involved in incitement against Israel and Jews.
Instead, the report claims that PA leaders have addressed incitement.
“The PA has taken significant steps during President Abbas’ tenure (2005 to date) to ensure that official institutions in the West Bank under its control do not create or disseminate content that incites violence,” the report contends. “While some PA leaders have made provocative and inflammatory comments, the PA has made progress in reducing official rhetoric that could be considered incitement to violence.”
State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert attempted to defend the report by saying “those terror attacks that are perpetuated against Israelis by Hamas and others, there is no justification – and we will say that time and time again – there is no justification for any acts of terrorism,” but the report, which has not been corrected, states otherwise.
We must let the US Department of State know that factually incorrect reports that justify terrorism are unacceptable.
