Ilhan Omar denied “equating terrorist organizations” with Israel, but she can’t hide from her own words and must be held accountable.
Radical anti-Israel Congresswoman Ilhan Omar recently compared the actions of Israel and the U.S. to the Gaza-based terror group Hamas and Taliban jihadists in Afghanistan.
“We must have the same level of accountability and justice for all victims of crimes against humanity,” Omar tweeted on Monday evening, along with a video of herself questioning Secretary of State Antony Blinken about “war crimes” investigations.
“We have seen unthinkable atrocities committed by the U.S., Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan, and the Taliban,” the tweet continued.
“[Omar] lumped in U.S. and Israeli government policy with that of two internationally-recognized terror groups,” World Israel News (WIN) reported.
“In the clip, Omar repeatedly referenced ‘Palestine’ and told Blinken that she had serious doubts if Israeli courts could objectively investigate alleged war crimes,” added the WIN report.
In response, a group of 12 Jewish Democratic lawmakers demanded Omar clarify her statement, a move she dismissed as “islamophobic.”
According to a statement from Omar, she “was in no way equating terrorist organizations with democratic countries with well-established judicial systems.”
In reality, Omar has repeatedly been accused of anti-Semitism. Her history of unfairly and dishonestly demonizing Israel goes back to 2012, when she she accused Israel of “evil doings” and said that the Jewish state had “hypnotized the world.”
“It’s not news that Ilhan Omar would make outrageous and clearly false statements about America and Israel,” Congressman Brad Sherman posted on his website. “It’s time for all of Israel’s detractors to condemn Hamas. And it’s time for all those of good will to reject any moral equivalency between the U.S. and Israel on one hand, and Hamas and the Taliban on the other.”
