The al-Qaeda terror network is encouraging its followers around the world to attack American and European airlines and has even provided detailed instructions.
In the latest edition of its Inspire magazine, published by the Yemenite branch of al-Qaeda, the international jihadist network is calling on “lone wolves” to attack popular Western airliners in order to kill as many people as possible, to “crush the enemy’s economy,” and to bring publicity to the terror organization.
The article provides detailed instructions throughout 37 pages on how to choose the proper target, how to build a bomb with readily available materials, how to hide it on a plane and how to breach airport security.
The article also calls for the targeting of high-profile U.S. figures Bill Gates and Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke.
Homeland Security Today estimates that Ibrahim Hassan Tali Al Asiri, an al-Qaeda bomb expert with a $5M price on his head, is behind the murderous initiative.
He said the first priority for any of his terrorists should be the U.S., then the United Kingdom, then France and so on.
Inspire praises Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab, the so-called ‘underpants bomber’ who was jailed for life in 2012 after trying to bomb a flight from Amsterdam to Detroit. He managed to set off the explosive, almost killing 300 passengers, but it was faulty and the bomber was the only one injured.
Security Agencies Remain Vigilant
The latest edition of Inspire was published four years after the first issue, which contained a notorious explosives guide titled: “Make a Bomb in the Kitchen of Your Mom,” the UK’s Daily Mail reports.
Western security services are deeply worried by the prospect of a terror attack as well as the return of citizens who had fought with terror organizations in the Middle East and are now experienced and trained to pose a serious threat.
A CIA report indicates that at least 2,000 Westerners are estimated to have joined terror organizations, such as Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, with at least 500 from the UK and more than 700 from France.
