Home-grown terror? What does it mean for Canada that citizens, including youth, glorify terrorists and aspire to emulate the murderous assault on innocent people?
By United with Israel Staff
The shocking display of love for a brutal terrorist with the blood of innocent civilians on his hands in major Canadian cities last week should alarm not only the Jewish community, but Canadians in general.
On Wednesday, in demonstrations across the country, anti-Israel activists slammed “Zionists” following the assassination of notorious terrorist Ibrahim al-Nabulsi, calling for Palestinian – including Palestinian-Canadian – youth to follow in his footsteps.
The head of the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades was killed during an Israeli military raid in the Palestinian Authority-controlled city of Nablus (Shechem) in Samaria on Tuesday morning.
In a voice recording made just before he was killed in a firefight with IDF forces, which made the rounds on Palestinian social media, Nabulsi urged his followers never to surrender.
“I love my mother. I am now a martyr and I am going to die a martyr’s death,” he said. “I am begging and pleading with you not to lay down your arms.”
In social media postings ahead of an “Honor Our Martyrs Emergency Rally” in Toronto on Wednesday, the terrorist-supporting activists stated that “Gaza is still living under siege and mourning the loss of their loves ones after recent attacks” – in reference to the IDF’s three-day Operation Breaking Dawn last week, which eliminated the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) leadership in the Strip.
“Join us for this action and prayer as we honor the martyrs of the recent attacks on Gaza. Bring your flags, signs and kuffeyahs!!” the promos read.
Incidentally, several Palestinian civilians, including children, were killed by errant PIJ rockets aimed at innocent Israelis that misfired and landed in Gaza. The IDF does everything possible to avoid civilian casualties.
Important reaffirmation of 🇮🇱 right to defend its civilians.
But “both sides” in this conflict are not the same. One, #Israel, is a democracy, a 🇨🇦 ally & uses precision strikes to target terror. The other is terrorist entity under 🇨🇦 law that indiscriminately targets civilians. https://t.co/QY3GMZ6Qox

Aliya Hasan, one of the organizers of the event in Toronto, shared on Tuesday a clip of al-Nablusi’s proud mother celebrating the martyrdom of her son, The Jerusalem Post noted.
“The mother of ‘The Lion of Nablus’ Ibrahim Nabulsi promises ‘a hundred Ibrahims will resume his path to freedom after his martyrdom,'” Hasan wrote. “Glory to our martyrs! Long live the resistance! Long live Falastin!”
In Montreal, the Palestinian Youth Movement openly called for terrorism with a video titled “Globalize the Intifada.”
In Ottawa, at a demonstration organized by the Association of Palestinian Arab Canadians and Students for Justice in Palestine Carlton, the crowd chanted, “There is only one solution, Intifada revolution” and “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.” The latter calls for the elimination of the Jewish state in its entirety, from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, rather than merely the “West Bank” – Judea and Samaria.
More rallies were held during the week in other cities, including Vancouver and London, Ontario. A rally in Toronto. dubbed “Glory to our Martyrs.” took place in front of the U.S. consulate on Saturday.
In a promo for the Toronto event, titled the “Toronto Emergency Protest and Vigil to Honor our Martyrs in Palestine,” the Palestinian Youth Movement tweeted: “All our lives we wonder what or last words might be if we are martyred,” then quoting Nabulsi’s latest words of inspiration, including “No one abandon the gun” and “I am going to be martyred.”
