Anti-Israel activists slammed as a “cheap publicity stunt” Israeli envoy to the US Ron Dermer’s decision to give products made in Judea, Samaria and the Golan Heights as holiday gifts.
The anti-Israel BDS (Boycott, Sanction, and Divest) movement condemned Israel’s envoy to Washington on Wednesday for his holiday gifts comprised of products made in Judea, Samaria and the Golan Heights, which are boycotted by anti-Israel elements.
“This cheap publicity stunt by Israel’s ambassador shows that the Israeli government is panicking because it is unable to stop the growth of the BDS movement,” the BDS committee said in a statement.
“Israel is sending a message of defiance to the US government that underlines that its colonial project and apartheid are integral parts of its policies. Behind this attitude is Israel’s sense of impunity that allows it to violate international law with no consequences,” BDS claimed.
BDS activists responded sharply to Ambassador Ron Dermer’s move, which he termed “a gift for the holiday that would also help combat BDS.”
“In response to this effort to cast a beacon of freedom, tolerance and decency as a pariah state, I have decided this holiday season to send you products that were made in Judea, Samaria and the Golan Heights. I hope you will enjoy them,” Dermer wrote in a letter accompanying the gifts.
