An Arab terrorist was shot early Wednesday morning while attacking an IDF unit. Data points to a sharp increase in terror attacks from Judea and Samaria.

A 22-year-old Arab terrorist from a refugee camp near Ramallah was shot and killed by IDF forces early Wednesday morning while aiming an improvised explosive device (IED) at them.

The attack occurred when rioting broke out during an IDF operation to arrest a wanted terrorist in the al-Amari refugee camp, Ynet said.

The army reports that they were attacked with Molotov cocktails, rocks and burning tires.

The Palestinian Ma’an news agency identified the terrorist as Issa al-Qatari, adding that the IDF was attempting to arrest Hamas operative Allah Jalita.

Six suspects were arrested in overnight operations throughout Judea and Samaria by the IDF.

July has proven to be an extremely violent month. According to a news report by the Shabak (Israeli Security Agency), violence in Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria has risen dramatically since Operation Protective Edge.

There were 424 terror attacks in Judea and Samaria in July compared to 89 in June, and 83 in Jerusalem as opposed to 11 in May and June, according to Shabak data.

Four Israelis were injured in these attacks, two of them by an IED thrown near Shuafat; one civilian was shot at the Rehelim Junction in Samaria. Among the 507 attacks in total, 459 were firebombs; 13 involved shooting with small arms.

It is of significance that these numbers do not include the numerous rock-throwing attacks against Israelis, which pose an immediate and explicit danger to lives on a daily basis.
