A settlement has been reached in a U.S. lawsuit accusing a large Jordan-based bank of sharing responsibility for a wave of Hamas-sanctioned suicide bombings in the early 2000s that left several Americans dead or wounded.
Victims of the attacks or their relatives and Arab Bank confirmed Friday that a deal had been reached but they declined to disclose details.
The settlement comes three days before the damages phase of the case was scheduled to go to trial in federal court in New York City.
In a previous trial last year, a jury found Arab bank liable in the attacks in Israel. The victims sued in 2004, accusing the bank of knowingly helping Hamas fund a “death and dismemberment benefit plan” for terrorists.
