Defying Anti-Israel Resolution, Israel Places Historical Exhibit at UNESCO Headquarters

Israel is countering the denial of the Jewish People’s ties to the land with irrefutable historical and archaeological facts.

Acting in defiance of several anti-Israel resolutions passed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) denying the Jewish ties to Jerusalem and the Land of Israel, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs placed a permanent exhibit on the Jews’ ancient history and its connections to the Holy Land at UNESCO headquarters in Paris.

Ynet reported on Monday that the exhibit features a replica of the Menorah and the scene of the Jews going into exile after the destruction of the Second Temple, as depicted on the Arch of Titus in Rome.

The decision to go ahead with the exhibit at UNESCO is part of the Israeli struggle against the lies denying any Jewish connection to Jerusalem, including a UNESCO resolution passed last October as well as the passing of a controversial UN resolution which conspicuously failed to mention the Jews’ historical ties to the Temple Mount.

Carmel Shama Hacohen, Israel’s ambassador to UNESCO, came to an agreement with UNESCO’s director-general, Irina Bokova, according to which the exhibit will be presented in an official ceremony, with ambassadors from all over the world in attendance, Ynet reported.

Bokova herself has condemned UNESCO’s anti-Israel resolutions.

Initially, the statue for the exhibit was planned to depict the Menorah only, but Hacohen decided to add the images of Jewish slaves carrying the Menorah into exile. It will also include a written explanation in English, French, Hebrew and Arabic.

“The decision to place the scene from the Arch of Titus—which depicts Jews, the Menorah and other holy symbols following the destruction of the Second Temple going into exile—in UNESCO presents an objective, historical truth engraved in stone by a non-Jewish ruler 600 years before the appearance of Islam in the world,” said Hacohen, according to Ynet.

“The exhibit and the statue are not meant to be a competition for Jerusalem or to hurt another religion’s connection to their holy place. This is just an additional step in explaining the truth that we were expelled from the Temple Mount by force to the coalition of lies of the Palestinians and Arab countries who claim we were never there and have no holy connection,” Hacohen explained.
