Statistics released by Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) reveal that despite the ongoing wave of terrorist attacks, tourists are not deterred from spending their holidays in Israel.

Approximately 290,000 tourists entered Israel during October 2015, as opposed to 224,000 in the previous month of September – an increase of 29%. Those numbers also show a 5% increase relative to the number of tourists visiting Israel in October of last year.

One of the many events that brought tourists to Israel in October was the International Astronautical Congress, hosted at Jerusalem’s International Convention Center and attended by more than 2,000 people from 60 countries.

The CBS statistics show that most of October’s tourists reached Israel by airplane, with a total of 257,000 such entries. The remaining tourist entries were registered through the border crossings. About 25,000 came through the border with Jordan, and 8,000 entered from Egypt.

Against the backdrop of the wave of Palestinian terror attacks that hit Israel last month, there was also an increase of 2% in day visitors in Israel compared with numbers from October 2014.
