HISTORIC: Bahraini Women’s Rights Activist Visits Israel, Thrilled to Be in ‘Yerushalayim’

“I won’t say Al-Quds or Jerusalem, but Yerushalayim,” Al-Shemeri said, using the Hebrew pronunciation for the eternal Jewish capital.

As part of an Emirati and Bahraini delegation visiting Israel, Bahraini women’s rights activist Mashael Al-Shemeri has become the first woman from her country to make an official visit to the Jewish state.

in an interview with i24News, she discusses how thrilled she is to be in “Yerushalayim. I won’t say Al-Quds or Jerusalem, but Yerushalayim.”

Aside from touring Israel and chatting with locals, Al-Shemeri met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Reuven Rivlin.

“Thank God this dream has become a reality,” she said.
