Eli Beer has saved thousands of lives through his volunteer EMT organization, but found himself in a life-and-death battle with COVID-19 during a visit to the U.S.

Founder of United Hatzalah Eli Beer recovered from COVID-19 after spending three weeks intubated and unconscious in a Miami hospital.

While Beer had planned to visit the U.S. on a routine fundraising trip, he found himself in a fight for his life, far away from his wife and children in Israel.

This week, Beer returned to the Holy Land and the loving embrace of his family and a nation grateful for his tireless work with Hatzalah, which has saved thousands of lives in Israel and created a blueprint for volunteer emergency medical care that has been replicated the world over.
