Hospital Treats Gaza Children through Israeli Non-Profit

A Tel Aviv hospital, through an Israeli humanitarian non-profit, continues to provide excellent treatment to Palestinian children despite situation of war.

A three-month-old baby girl from Gaza will be arriving Thursday morning at Wolfson Medical Center in the greater Tel Aviv area to undergo life-saving heart surgery through Save a Child’s Heart (SACH). The baby’s condition is severe; without treatment, she cannot survive.

The infant will be taken in a Palestinian ambulance to the Erez crossing, transferred to an Israel ambulance and brought to Wolfson hospital in Holon. The Israeli team of doctors and nurses at Wolfson are ready to receive the baby and to give her the needed medical attention immediately. Two children from Palestinian-administered territory in Judea and Samaria will also undergo open-heart surgery at the hospital on Thursday. Both arrived at Wolfson on Tuesday and were diagnosed during the SACH free weekly clinic for Palestinian children. Seven children came to the clinic, among them two from the Gaza strip.

Save a Child’s Heart Helps All Children in Need

Save a Child’s Heart (SACH) is an Israeli-based international humanitarian project. Its mission is to improve the quality of pediatric cardiac care for children from developing countries who suffer with heart disease and to create centers of competence in these countries. SACH is totally dedicated to the idea that every child deserves the best medical treatment available regardless of nationality, religion, color, gender and financial situation.

Israeli doctors continue to provide first-rate medical treatment to Palestinian children even during times of war.

“This is what distinguishes us as Israelis, the ability to ignore what is happening around and continue with our sacred work of saving children’s lives,” Dr. Lior Sasson of SACH stated.

The Tel Aviv area, where the children will be treated, has been undergoing intense rocket fire from Gaza since the launch of Operation Protective Edge more than a week ago. On Wednesday morning, the Iron Dome missile defense system intercepted four rockets over greater Tel Aviv.
