“We, as Israelis and Jews, must not stand by when we see another nation abandoned by its allies and is left defenseless,” the petition said.

Numerous IDF reservists are showing their commitment to the Kurdish people in northern Syria who are currently under attack by Turkey.
In a petition sent to Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Aviv Kochavi, dozens of IDF reservists called upon the government to “provide food, clothing, medicine, intelligence, and military assistance” to the overwhelmed Kurdish people.
“We, as Israelis and Jews, must not stand by when we see another nation abandoned by its allies and is left defenseless,” the petition said. “We remember very well the blood of our people, what happens when the nations of the world abandon the fate of a people.”
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the situation yesterday by saying that he “strongly condemns Turkey’s military invasion of Kurdish provinces in Syria and warns against the ethnic cleansing of the Kurds by Turkey and its proxies.”
“Israel is prepared to extend humanitarian assistance to the gallant Kurdish people,” Netanyahu added.
Turkey began it’s military assault against the Kurdish fighters in northern Syria on Wednesday after U.S. troops withdrew from the area on President Trump’s orders, the AP reports.
Turkey’s Defense Ministry announced on Thursday, that their military forces struck 181 Kurdish targets in north-eastern Syria, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that 110 Kurdish fighters have been killed.
Trump’s critics are attacking his decision to withdraw his troops because the Kurds are the ones who previously helped the U.S. defeat ISIS, so to abandon them sends the wrong message to America’s allies.
Trump responded to the accusations, by tweeting on Monday that “the Kurds fought with us, but were paid massive amounts of money and equipment to do so.”
He also said that the U.S. has fulfilled all of its commitments in the region.
“The United States was supposed to be in Syria for 30 days, that was many years ago. We stayed and got deeper and deeper into battle with no aim in sight. When I arrived in Washington, ISIS was running rampant in the area. We quickly defeated 100% of the ISIS Caliphate, including capturing thousands of ISIS fighters, mostly from Europe,” the president tweeted.
On Wednesday the president tweeted that the “the stupid endless wars, for us, are ending!”
