IDF Soldiers Treat 20 Wounded Palestinian Arabs

IDF soldiers treat wounded Palestinian Arabs regularly, and Tuesday was no different, when 20 PA residents required urgent medical attention.

On Tuesday morning, Magen David Adom, Israel’s equivalent to the Red Cross, informed IDF medics in Judea and Samaria that a serious accident involving Palestinian Arab residents, between a private vehicle and a minibus, had occurred near the Judean town of Efrat.

“In less than five minutes, Cpt. Karin Yamin and three paramedics arrived on the scene,” the blog stated. All passengers required medical attention.

Upon arrival at the scene, Cpt. Karin Yamin had to act quickly to take care of the 20 wounded Palestinians.

The army medics and Palestinian Red Crescent cooperate well.

IDF Soldiers Care for Wounded Regardless of Race and Religion

“In this case, IDF soldiers were the first to respond, and quickly afterwards, the Red Crescent arrived and transferred the wounded to ambulances,” according to the blog.

Yamin has been serving as an IDF Medical Officer in Judea and Samaria’s Etzion Brigade for seven months, and Tuesday’s emergency was one of many that she handles on a daily basis.

“For the soldiers in my unit, saving lives is a priority,” Yamin stated. “Whether the patients are Israeli, Palestinian, Christian or Druze, we take care of them all in the same way. We also provide equipment to Red Crescent ambulances, especially when we see that they lack medical equipment.

“It’s important for me to emphasize that cooperation between the IDF and the Palestinian Authority goes in both directions,” he asserted.

The injured Palestinian Arabs expressed satisfaction at the treatment afforded them.

“We are constantly on the alert,” Yamin said. “My soldiers and I act with one value in mind: We are all doctors and our purpose is to save lives. It makes no difference where we are or who is in front of us.”
