Iran continues with its destabilizing interference in the Middle East and is obviously seeking to develop a nuclear bomb, Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir charges.
Iran has been “blatantly interfering” in the internal affairs of several Arab countries, including Yemen, Iraq, Lebanon and Syria, Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir charged on Monday.
Addressing a joint press conference in Berlin with his German counterpart, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Al-Jubeir said Saudi Arabia was keen on good relations with Iran provided that it changes its hostile policy of interference in the affairs of countries in the region, the Saudi Gazette reported.
Shiite Iran and Sunni Saudi Arabia, age-old enemies, are fighting a series of proxy wars throughout the Middle East.
Al-Jubeir commented that Iranian support for Bashar Al-Assad’s regime is a tragedy for the Syrian people. Over 250,000 people have been killed and millions displaced in the civil war that has been waging in the country for over four years. Iran has been funding Assad’s armies, has sent military advisors and units to fight on Assad’s side and has ordered the Hezbollah terror organization that it backs to fight on the Syrian regime’s behalf.
Iran’s Clear Intent to Get the Bomb
On the issue of Iranian nuclear deal with Western powers signed last month, Al-Jubeir said Tehran’s consistent refusal to allow nuclear inspectors to visit some of its military sites proves its intent to go ahead with the manufacture of nuclear weapons.
“The Kingdom is closely monitoring Iran’s quest for uranium enrichment,” he stated.
Steinmeier affirmed that he understands the concerns expressed by Riyadh and the Arab Gulf countries, warning Iran that sanctions will be re-imposed if it tries to renege on any of the deal’s clauses.

Sign the Petition to Stop a Nuclear Iran
The US Congress must ensure that sanctions against Iran remain in force until the nuclear threat is completely eliminated.
I strongly oppose easing sanctions before the nuclear threat from Iran has been eliminated. Allowing Iran to enrich uranium without being subject to 'anytime, anywhere' inspections is extremely dangerous and unacceptable. Iran's nuclear program must be stopped.
